Van Dien returns to the franchise to introduce the Federation’s latest “training program,” delivering an in-universe message encouraging players to join the cause.

The video sets the tone for the game’s retro aesthetic and militaristic propaganda style, echoing the original 1997 film.

The Story: 25 Years After the Original Film

Ultimate Bug War is set a quarter-century after Starship Troopers. The campaign follows war hero Samantha Dietz as she recounts her hunt for the deadly Assassin Bug during the First Bug War. Players return to Klendathu, explore worlds like Planet P, and face fresh threats across new locations.

The game features:

  • A solo campaign built around fast, gory, 3D-pixelated FPS combat
  • 14 weapons, including the Morita rifle
  • 11 Tactical Supports
  • A Federation Mech you can pilot

Play as the Bugs

Auroch Digital also added a separate anti-bug training mode where players can take control of the Arachnids themselves. It lets fans study how the Bugs operate — or simply tear into Troopers from the opposite side of the battlefield.

Coming in Early 2026

Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War launches early next year. Fans can wishlist the game on Steam and follow the official accounts on Facebook and X for updates.
