Star Wars: The Acolyte Not Canceled: Still On Disney's Release Schedule

Again contrary to those rumors, Disney has not canceled the Star Wars: The Acolyte TV series from Lucasfilm.

In a press release from Disney+ UK, The Acolyte is listed as getting released sometime in 2024:

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte” will premiere on Disney+ in 2024. The series is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

Back in October also saw the trailer leak online from Star Wars Celebration London and it’s also known the series has finished filming, so Disney really has nothing to lose by releasing the show. If it’s more bad Star Wars, what else is new? If it happens to be decent, then fans are in for a surprise. If it happens to be so-so, again, what else is new?

Spider-Man director Jon Watts’ Star Wars: Skeletron Crew series is also on the 2024 release list for Disney+, but nothing about Andor Season 2, so maybe that is coming out in 2025. Of course, things can always change.

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ tells the story of four kids who find themselves lost in the vastness of the galaxy trying to find their way home. This series will arrive on the platform in 2024.

Who said The Acolyte is canceled?

Regarding the rumors that The Acolyte has been canceled, they came from the Doom Cock YouTube channel with Hollywood writer Kamran Pasha claiming the series wouldn’t get released. Pasha has also claimed the new Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie will not get released.

“Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Kathleen Kennedy was already with The Acolyte to do her best to finish off George Lucas’s legacy and kill The Force,” said Doom Cock.

Pasha added his source confirmed the cancellation.

“This is not a rumor, this is their confirmation, that Leslye Hedland is no longer working with Lucasfilm. They’re no longer part of the company’s inner infrastructure. They’ve been removed,” said Pasha.

Pasha continued, “So the other thing they’ve confirmed is the part of the process of Leslie Headland no longer being an employee of Lucasfilm is that her Acolyte show – the mysterious Acolyte for which we never have a clear answer as to what they’re doing – The Acolyte show has been essentially put into soft cancellation.”

Pasha added “Lucasfilm will treat this exactly like the Rian Johnson never-ending trilogy that will happen one day Inshallah, god willing, right, which they ran with that for years and that’s they’re their play. Their play is they’re just going to not talk about it anymore. They’re gonna memory hold it. It will always be ‘it’s coming out soon – God willing – we just got to make a few more things happen,’ until eventually no one talks about it anymore which is exactly what happened to Rian Johnson who is much bigger than Ms. Headland and that’s what they did with him.”
