Following the last episode of The Book of Boba Fett, it’s now rumored that The Mandalorian Season 3 will be the last for that series.

Note: Spoilers may follow.

While reviewing The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 7 which echoed a lot from my own review and many fans’ thoughts as well, YouTuber Grace Randolph stated she has heard rumors about how The Mandalorian Season 3 will be its last.

“Rumors. I’ve heard rumors that Mando Season 3 will be the last, which seems very sad considering how good the stuff was here, but obviously, these characters are around forever and can be used in other shows. Right?” said Randolph.

Mandalorian and Baby Yoda

The Mandalorian‘s days might be numbered

While Grace didn’t go into further details, if the rumor is true, that would mean there are only around eight episodes left of The Mandalorian, so maybe that is the explanation as to why Favreau and Filoni threw in those two “bonus” episodes in The Book of Boba Fett, essentially a Season 2.5, which moved things forward, yet seemed out of place because they didn’t feature Fett.

As I stated in my review, I thought they should have kept Baby Yoda Grogu out of The Book of Boba Fett and saved him for the end of The Mandalorian Season 3 and/or the start of Season 4, as the Grogu deus ex machina thing has the possibility of getting old fast and it kind of takes away from the end of Season 2, but if there are only eight episodes left and no Season 4 is going to happen, that could be the reason for using Grogu and Luke in The Book of Boba Fett, as The Mandalorian‘s days are numbered.

I expected The Mandalorian Season 3 to deal with Mando getting his honor back, and then a new spinoff announced for Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze, and then Season 4 dealing with the Grogu and Luke thing or something of that nature, but Season 3 might simply end with Mando getting his honor back which leads to the Bo-Katan Kryze spinoff (with maybe guest appearances by Mando, etc).

There is also the Ahsoka Tano series, which I believe is supposed to get released in 2023 after The Mandalorian Season 3 debuts around Christmas 2022, so maybe some of the characters will appear there as well.
