Temuera Morrison reveals the original plan for The Mandalorian Season 4 would have seen the return of Boba Fett.
However, with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie now happening, Boba Fett won’t be returning anytime soon.
Temuera Morrison recently appeared at Fan Expo Chicago and confirmed he is not in Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu.
According to Screen Rant:
Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison confirmed during the panel ‘From Clone Troopers to Bounty Hunters’ at Fan Expo Chicago that he will not be returning in The Mandalorian & Grogu. In fact, Morrison said that he also hasn’t received an update regarding a possible season 2 of The Book of Boba Fett.
Morrison is also quoted as stating at the convention:
“I’m still waiting for a phone call to be quite honest. I think we’re just put on the shelf for a little bit. Maybe we come off the shelf later.”
Regarding The Mandalorian Season 4, Temuera Morrison says things changed with the switch to the movie.
“I understand they’re gonna do a Mando with Grogu movie next, and uh…things have changed a little too,” the actor explained. “There was going to be a Mando [season] 4, I think, and I was going to turn up in that, but as of now, I’m still waiting for a phone call, to be quite honest.”
Regarding why Boba Fett could be axed, The Book of Boba Fett wasn’t well-received by both the fans and the critics. The Rotten Tomatoes Score is 66% from the critics and only 49% from the fans. Only Boba Fett and The Acolyte have “rotten” Audience Scores. The Acolyte was just announced to be canceled.
Also recall how two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett didn’t feature the titular character and instead the series became more like The Mandalorian Season 2.5. The viewership wasn’t all that good for the first half of the season and was way down from The Mandalorian numbers. The viewership only saw a bump with the Mando episodes and the appearance of Luke Skywalker.
