Star Wars: 'The Acolyte' Synopsis and Cast Revealed: Now Filming

The Disney Plus Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is now filming with Lucasfilm announcing the cast and revealing the official plot synopsis.

From creator, showrunner, and executive producer Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), The Acolyte has begun production in the U.K.

The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef.

Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producing.

Headland will also direct the series pilot.

The cast includes the previously announced Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give).

Joining Stenberg includes Emmy Award-winner Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

Lucasfilm also confirms Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials, Logan) has been cast in the series who was recently rumored for the show.

The Acolyte plot synopsis follows a former Padawan

The plot is also revealed which follows a former Padawan, and Disney released a first-look behind-the-scenes image featuring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, and Leslye Headland.

Andor is also now streaming on Disney Plus which is probably one of the best Star Wars projects to come out of Disney, so be sure to check that out, which is a prequel to Rogue One starring Diego Luna and the latest episodes also feature Andy Serkis as an original character (nothing related to Snoke). Season 2 is also in the works and starts filming in a couple of weeks.


The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

The Acolyte will stream exclusively on Disney+.
