Anson Mount joins Star Trek: Discovery Season 2.
The actor who recently starred as Black Bolt on Marvel’s Inhumans will play Captain Christopher Pike.
Filming on Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 looks to begin later this month, and CBS has yet to announced when the series returns.
Plot details for Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 include that it will not be about the war and will feature nods to the original Star Trek series.
“The second season is not a war season… we are very interested in tackling themes of science versus faith. We’ll be nine years before [Star Trek: The Original Series] and there are things from TOS that we want to do some nods to,” co-showrunner Aaron Harberts said.
Star Trek: Discovery airs on the CBS All Access digital streaming service with Season 1 now available to watch.
Star Trek: Discovery follows the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself.
Captain Christopher Pike was captain of the Enterprise prior to James T. Kirk.
