Monday at CinemaCon, Sony officially announced the title of Spider-Man 4, which is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The official July 31, 2026 release date was also confirmed, with Shang-Chi‘s Destin Daniel Cretton directing.
The event saw Destin Daniel Cretton take to the stage, with a video released featuring Tom Holland announcing the Spider-Man: Brand New Day title.
“To say that it’s an honor to be standing on this stage is a pretty big understatement,” Cretton said, explaining that he has been a lifelong fan of the character and has been drawn to Peter Parker’s “humor” and “messy humanity.”
In the video, Holland gave a “massive thank you for all of your support” to those attendees at CinemaCon, which is mostly made up of movie theater employees, execs, and owners. He added, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start.”
Cretton Spider-Man: Brand New Day “a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”
Sony also posted the official logo on social media.

Why is Spider-Man 4 titled “Brand New Day?”
The title fits with the events from No Way Home where Doctor Strange made everyone forget about Peter Parker. It’s been said Peter will have a new group of friends and the flick will have a new female lead, said to be played by Sadie Sink.
The title also lines up with what producer Amy Pascal has said about Spider-Man 4.
“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about,” Pascal said in a recent interview.

Adapting Marvel Comics
“Brand New Day” also happens to be the title of a Spider-Man story in the Marvel Comics, which followed the controversial “One More Day” event that erased the Peter Parker marriage to Mary Jane.
“In Brand New Day,” Peter stopped his web-swinging for a hundred days and lived with Aunt May. It was further revealed that not only was his marriage erased to MJ, but the pair had broken up and have been on rocky terms.
Peter also thought MJ had also become the new superhero, Jackpot, which eventually came true and has been played out recently in the Marvel Comics. This week also saw the big reveal that MJ is the All-New Venom.
Marvel Comics describes the two volume Omnibus as:
Peter Parker puts the past behind him and sets forth on a status-quo swing shift like no other — with new friends, new foes and some familiar faces — and Peter’s life has never been crazier! If major changes at the Daily Bugle and the livestreaming foe Screwball weren’t bad enough, the rampage of the furious Freak will have Spidey calling for his Avengers teammates and an all-new adventurer! Plus, “The Other Spider-Man!” Kraven’s First Hunt! Norman Osborn as the face of law and order?! The dazzling debut of Jackpot! Spidey meets a President! And much more!
Will Spider-Man’s Brand New Day be ruined by foes old or new – or a combination of the two? First, Spidey must survive Kraven’s First Hunt – but this isn’t the Kravinoff he knew. In fact, she might be even more lethal! Then, Spidey will face a Norman Osborn who has changed, too – because this time, Osborn has the force of the law behind him. And Osborn’s dark version of order is maintained by the twisted Thunderbolts! Another classic foe, Hammerhead, has been revived by Spidey’s newest nemesis, the nihilistic Mister Negative. The two unite in a rampage of crime – but as the bullets fly, the Punisher joins the fray! Plus: Jackpot faces a Skrull Secret Invasion!
