Sonic the Hedgehog 4 may have just landed a major name. A new report claims Sir Ben Kingsley has joined the cast in a “key role,” adding another high-profile actor to the next sequel as production gets underway.
Ben Kingsley reportedly joins Sonic 4 in a “key role”
The reported casting is being attributed to entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider, with multiple outlets echoing the claim while noting there’s no official word yet on who Kingsley would be playing. As of now, the role is being kept under wraps.
Fresh off Marvel’s Wonder Man
Kingsley most recently appeared in Marvel Television’s Wonder Man, where he returned to the MCU as actor Trevor Slattery.
The series leaned into Hollywood satire, giving Kingsley plenty of room to play the character’s washed-up-performer energy while bouncing off Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
If the Sonic report holds, it would be another franchise move for Kingsley, one that fits the series’ habit of mixing big comedic voices with blockbuster spectacle.
Sonic 4 is filming now, with a March 2027 release
