Sonic Movie 4 is officially in production, and director Jeff Fowler just made it public with a simple on-set tease: “Ready 4 Action 🎬 #SonicMovie4 now filming. In Theaters Worldwide March 2027.”
Jeff Fowler confirms Sonic 4 is now filming
Fowler posted the update on social media alongside a behind-the-scenes image from set.
The photo shows Fowler on a nighttime shoot holding a clapperboard while a large prop hammer rests over his shoulder. A bright neon “4” graphic is also overlaid on the back of his jacket, making it clear what project he’s on.

The hammer likely points to Amy Rose
In Sonic lore, a big hammer usually means one character: Amy Rose.
She’s known for carrying her signature Piko Piko Hammer and using it as her go-to weapon, so when a Sonic tease photo puts a hammer front and center, fans instantly read it as an Amy nod.
Release window: March 2027
Fowler’s post repeats the current plan: Sonic Movie 4 hits theaters worldwide in March 2027.
That lines up with the widely reported U.S. date of March 19, 2027.
