Shazam! Box Office Off To Super Start; Topping Aquaman

Good news for Shazam! as its box office is off to a super start with the advanced Saturday screenings, which are actually topping that of Aquaman‘s numbers.

Shazam! brought in an estimated $3.3 million for the Saturday, March 23 screenings, compared to Aquaman‘s own Saturday screenings of $2.9 million, an almost 14% increase.

Aquaman also went on to make $68 million for its opening weekend, which may spell further good news for Shazam!, as industry estimates (for some reason) have only pegged Shazam! as having around a $40 million opening.

I previously stated Shazam! should have around a $55-70 million opening, which judging by the Saturday numbers, looks to be correct. Actually, if the 14% number above Aquaman holds, Shazam! would have around a $77.5 million opening.

The flick also has a present 93% Rotten Tomatoes score with 82 Fresh reviews to only 6 Rotten reviews.

The movie opens on April 5, 2019 directed by David F. Sandberg starring Zachary Levi in the titular role, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Billy’s best friend and ultimate superhero enthusiast, Freddy, Djimon Hounsou as the Wizard, Mark Strong as the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Faithe Herman, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Milans and Cooper Andrews.
