Marvel star Scarlett Johansson is in talks to play the lead in the new Jurassic World movie from Universal Pictures which has Gareth Edwards attached to direct.
The trades are reporting it seems likely the actress who is known for playing Marvel’s Black Widow will seal the deal and land the starring gig.
Said to be a fresh take
The flick was previously described as a reboot, but the trades have dropped mention of reboot from their articles and are stating it’s a fresh take, so perhaps it’s some sort of continuation.
It is said the new Jurassic World movie won’t feature Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and also that Jurassic Park‘s Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill won’t be appearing.
Update: Jonathan Bailey, known for the Showtime series, Fellow Travelers, is also in talks to star.
David Koepp, who wrote the first Jurassic Park, is returning to the new movie.
Scarlett Johansson starred in Marvel’s Black Widow which was released in 2021 in theaters and on the Disney+ streaming service at the same time. As the flick bombed in theaters and on Disney+, Scarlett Johansson sued Disney for the same day and date release, where the two came to a settlement reportedly of more than $40 million.
Johansson described her Black Widow movie as a feminist MeToo movie back in 2020.
