The Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars will be without the MCUâs most powerful character. In a new interview, Elizabeth Olsen drops the news she wonât be returning to the MCU, which means she wonât be assisting the new team of Avengers or even possibly siding with Robert Downey Jr.âs new bad guy, Doctor Doom. Those rumors a Scarlet Witch solo movie are in the works also look to be way off.
While speaking with THR, Olsen says she has moved on from Marvel and has another project lined up:
As for the future of her fan-favorite Marvel character, Olsen confirms that sheâs not going to be a part of the Russo brothersâ two upcoming Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars. The back-to-back productions are gearing up to shoot in London soon, and Olsen just returned to the U.S. after wrapping Sam Esmailâs Panic Carefully in London. âIâm moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters],â Olsen adds.

Why isnât Elizabeth Olsen returning?
As for why she wonât be a part of either of the new Avengers movies, she says the MCU takes up a lot of time:
âI didnât realize this until about six years ago, but because Marvel and its influence takes up so much physical time and space in the world, itâs really important for me to make choices outside of Marvel that reflect my own taste,â Olsen tells The Hollywood Reporter. âYour taste does create the artist that you are, and that wasnât something I was thinking about when I first started working. So the opportunity to return to films like [The Assessment] is a reflection of the people I want to work with and my own personal taste.â
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a disappointment
Worth a mention is that in previous interviews, she made it sound as if her last MCU appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a big mess. The movie is also considered a major disappointment. She also said she would only return to the MCU if she had the âsmartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense.â
