Elizabeth Olsen, best known for portraying Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), recently made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she was asked a question many Marvel fans have debated: Who’s the more powerful Avenger—Wanda or Chris Hemsworth’s Thor? She also again says she would like to return to the MCU under the right circumstances.
When asked about the hypothetical battle, Olsen responded, “I think I am,” referring to her character Wanda being the more powerful Avenger.
After some applause from the audience, she continued, “I think theory has it that Wanda could beat him.” Though Olsen hasn’t yet played with Thor’s signature weapon, Mjolnir, she seemed certain that Wanda’s powers extend far beyond the God of Thunder’s abilities.
Kimmel noted, “I think Wanda has powers that are greater than a hammer and the lightning.”
Olsen replied, “Yeah, I think so. I think I could probably somehow manipulate and go inside his body and do the same thing he does.”
Elizabeth Olsen wants the smartest writers to explain Scarlet Witch’s return
Regarding a return to the MCU, as Jimmy notes, the last we seen of the Scarlet Witch was under a pile of rubble in Doctor Strange 2. However, Olsen points out there was a big flash of red light suggesting she might not be dead.
“There was a red light of explosive energy,” she said.
When Jimmy questions if she was ever told she is done with the character, Olsen replied, “I think I’m dead.”
She continued stating she would return to the MCU: “I would bet to leave a window open. I had so much fun doing these movies. I would like to figure out how to cleverly be undead. We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense. I’m open to ideas. I would like to [be alive].”
