Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark and Iron Man for ten MCU films and kicked things off back in 2008 with Iron Man. Joe and Anthony Russo directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Joe and Anthony Russo told the crowd in Hall H at Comic-Con that they jumped at the chance to direct Secret Wars, calling it “the biggest story that Marvel Comics ever told” and the reason they first “fell in love with comics.”

The Russos added that there is “one very, very important character that is required to do Secret Wars justice.” A group of green cloaked figures took the stage all wearing Doctor Doom masks. One of them then stepped forward revealing Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

“New mask, same task,” Downey said with a wink. “What can I tell you? I like playing complicated characters.”
