When the news surfaced that Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage had been cast in X-Men: Days of Future Past speculation surfaced that he would be an all CGI character or even Puck from Alpha Flight.
Comments from Bryan Singer fueled the CGI theory because the director previously stated he would be trying something new and that a specific character would be done only in digital.
Puck was just brought up, well, because of the similar size in height, most likely.
However, shortly after Peter Dinklage was announced as part of X-Men: Days of Future Past, it came out that he would be playing the film’s main antagonist with the creator of the robot mutant hunting Sentinels, Bolivar Trask.
Now, recent comments from Singer seem to suggest the latter possibility as he shoots down the CGI notion and seemingly says no to Puck.
Speaking with IGN about his upcoming Jack The Giant Slayer movie, when they remarked to Singer that Dinklage probably wasn’t playing Puck, he responded with a “yeah.”
And Bryan Singer also went on to say no to CGI.
“He’s not going to be a CGI character,” Singer told IGN. “He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game of Thrones] and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey.”
Update: CBN reader Andrew Francis points out that Trask was a character in X-Men: The Last Stand, which would rule out Peter Dinklage playing the characer, if Singer is indeed, sticking to movie continuity.
X-Men: Days of Future Past has a July 14, 2014 release date starring Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, with Hugh Jackman reprising as Wolverine, and returning cast members Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan.
