During Wednesday morning’s Nintendo Direct live stream, the Nintendo Switch 2 release date was announced, which is June 5, 2025, priced starting at $449.99.
Preorders start next week on April 9.
The Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle costs $499.99.
The stream went over a slew of new features for Nintendo Switch 2 including new controllers, games, and more.

Highlights include:
- The Nintendo Switch 2 will have a bigger screen but with the same thickness as the original, from 6.2 inches to 7.9 inches
- High-definition display
- Smooth gameplay, up to 120 fps
- Vivid LCD, HDR support
- Joy-Con 2 attaches magnetically to the console
- Bigger SL/SR buttons

- Mario Kart World is exclusive
The James Bond video game first announced four years ago is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
