Captain America: Civil War Ending Rumored & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23490:]]

A new rumor has hit the net regarding the ending to Captain America: Civil War.

Obvious spoilers follow if legit.

The following news should come as no surprise to comic book fans – again if true – in that a YouTube channel is stating Steve Rogers bites the big one at the end of the movie. According to That Hashtag Show, Captain America: Civil War will end with the funeral scene of Steve Rogers. It’s said during the movie, Steve Rogers makes a deal with the government in that they are to not hunt down the people that allied with him. It’s said after Steve Rogers surrenders and is taken into custody, Captain America gets killed.

According to the report, Marvel has filmed three versions of a scene dealing with the new Captain America, in that it could either be Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Anthony Mackie (Falcon) or Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter aka Agent 13), with two of the scenes/characters more than likely red herrings.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Synopsis:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

More Clues To C-3PO’s Red Arm In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23485:]]

Obvious spoilers follow for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

We know that C-3PO has a new red arm in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but that’s about all we know. Then at the end of the movie, C-3PO has his regular golden arm back (or a new one).

So what gives?

Well, pieces of the puzzle come together (albeit not competely) via the following image (guessing from the Force Awakens Art book) which offers that C-3PO “is uncharateristically quiet when it comes to discussing his salvaged arm; it is a memento of another droid’s sacrifice.”

Interstingly enough, the end scene when C-3PO has his regular arm back also features another droid — a red protocol droid to the right. We can probably speculate that since R2 went comatose, C-3PO may have parterned with another droid.

No worries though, as Marvel Comics has us covered. February 24th sees Marvel put out the Star Wars: C-3PO one shot comic book explaining the red arm. Here is the description:

• Follow everyone’s favorite protocol droid as he Journeys to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in this special one-shot leading up to his appearance in the film! Just how did Threepio get a red arm, anyway? Find out here as the blockbuster creative team of James Robinson and Tony Harris of DC’s Starman reunite for the first time in nearly two decades!
•  You may be fluent in over six million forms of communication…but this book is a must have in any language!

It’s up to the entire Bat team to uncover the truth before Gotham City falls prey to its greatest threat yet.

Star Wars: Episode VIII Films In London In A Few Weeks

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23476:]]

Here we go again!

Though Mark Hamill shot a few scenes for Star Wars: Episode VIII, now John Boyega offers filming on the sequel to The Force Awakens kicks off in a few weeks in London.

The UK’s Sky News reports John Boyega made a surprise appearance at a screening of The Force Awakens in Brixton and told fans he is “so happy” to work on the next movie.

“So I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for coming out and supporting this movie. The movie is yours now and I really hope you enjoyed it and we are so happy to be starting on Episode Eight in a few weeks in London and it is going to be fun,” Boyega told the audience. “May the force be with you always.”

Star Wars: Episode VIII has a May 26, 2017 release directed by Rian Johnson. Greg Grunberg, JJ Abrams long time friend since kindergarten and who plays Snap Wexley, recently let it be known that Abrams had read the Episode VIII script and said it was so good that he regretted not coming back to direct it.

As of yet, there is no official title for Episode VIII; however, if the movie keeps in line with “The Force Awakens” homaging “A New Hope,” the title may play off “Empire Strikes Back.” Any ideas?

Stefan Kapicic Announced As Colossus For Deadpool Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23473:]]

With the release of the Colossus Deadpool movie poster, now comes word of just who is playing the metallic mutant.

EW.com reports and has an interview up with 37-year-old Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic (24, Extent) who provided the voice and some motion-capture work for Colossus. It’s note that Kapicic finished on Colossus a mere 8 weeks prior the premiere of the film in February.

Some highlights from the interview include that Kapicic is a big fan of the comics:

Yes! I am big comic book geek. I can’t live without them. Deadpool was always one of my favorite characters because of the way he handles all kinds of situations. His style and humor make him the perfect antihero. It’s great finding a comic book character that doesn’t care about following traditional comic book rules by breaking the fourth wall and being explicit about everything. This gives Deadpool the arrogance which you just have to love.

On director Tim Miller’s vision of the character and Kapicic’s voice for Colossus:

Tim Miller’s idea of Colossus was to be bigger and stronger than everyone else, so for the motion capture they needed an extremely tall man. I’m 6-foot-4, but he wanted Colossus to be over 7 feet, so they used a stunt double to recreate his height, and he did very good job there. Tim also wanted Colossus to sound as close as possible to the comic book character’s background, so he had me to come in, since my voice was what he envisioned for Colossus, who has an authentic Russian accent. My character’s voice gives him the past history as Piotr Rasputin once you hear him speak. This made him the most authentic to the original idea of the comic book character.

On working with Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller:

There is no actor in the world with such talent and charm that could play Deadpool as well as Ryan Reynolds. Working with him was a fantastic experience, and his ideas and suggestions helped me out a lot.  It was just great fun to work one-on-one as Deadpool and Colossus. I worked with many directors in my life, but Tim Miller is definitely my favorite. He not only has a beautiful sense of directing actors, but he also shares a great love and passion for the comic book world, as I do. I enjoyed working and spending time talking with him. He is an exceptional man and friend and I can never thank him enough for this opportunity that he gave me.

Listen To The Evidence Supreme Leader Snoke May Be Darth Plagueis

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23472:]]

Check out two videos below offering up the theory that Supreme Leader Snoke is atually Darth Plageuis, the Sith Lord that trained the Emperor, Darth Sidious.

Their evidence?

The John Williams music scores for the characters are exactly the same — abeit for one added pitch.

Palpatine told Anakin that he killed Sidious in his sleep. Maybe not?!

“Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.”

―Palpatine

It’s also been said Disney asked a movie podcast to yank mention of Darth Plagueis in their show, which only adds more fuel to the theory…

You can head on over here for an official description of Snoke and a leaked image.

IMAX Corporation today announced that Star Wars: The Force Awakens, released by The Walt Disney Studios, scored a record-setting opening weekend in IMAX theatres with $48 million worldwide on 677 screens (excluding China), making it the Company’s best-ever weekend at the global box office, beating Jurassic World‘s $44.1 millionworldwide opening (which included China). The previous worldwide box-office record holder in IMAX – without China – was Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which earned $25.2 million during its opening weekend globally. Star Wars: The Force Awakens also set various other IMAX records including for both domestic and international openings.

Domestically, Star Wars: The Force Awakens grossed a benchmark $30 million on 391 IMAX screens, of which 359 were record-breaking. The film trounced the previous North American IMAX opening weekend record of $20.9 million (Jurassic World) by roughly 50 percent.

International IMAX results for Star Wars: The Force Awakens reached a record $18 million on 276 IMAX screens – without the benefit of China – more than doubling the previous-best non-China day-and-date release of $8 million (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2). Markets that saw record-setting openings include: U.K., France, Germany, Russia, Japan, the Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Sweden,South Africa, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand. The IMAX network was at capacity with sell-out screenings all weekend as the film earned the highest single-day box-office gross for IMAX worldwide on Friday with$17.7 million. The previous best was Jurassic World with $13 million.

“Star Wars has become a global cultural phenomenon, and IMAX has benefitted, with new IMAX records set across our entire worldwide network and China still to come. We only wish we had more seats to meet the demand,” said IMAX CEORichard L. Gelfond. “Congratulations to Disney and Lucasfilm – we’re extremely proud of the collaboration between our companies, which has resulted not only in this record-setting worldwide opening for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but also in setting the stage for the franchise for years to come. Who Is Rey In Star Wars: The Force Awakens? 7 Theories

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23462:]]

Perhaps the biggest engima – or at least second to Supreme Leader Snoke – is just who the heck is this Rey girl who can wield The Force like no other in Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Rey is able to resist Kylo Ren, a practitioner of The Dark Side; she’s able to wield a lightsaber; able to Force Pull the lightsaber; able to fly and fix the Millennium Falcon; able to defender herself; has Force visions, and the list goes on and on.

It might be fair to say that Rey might be the most powerful Force wielder ever?

With that said, let’s take a look at some popular theories as to the identity of Rey.

1. Han and Leia’s daughter: While it was said in the movie that Rey looked up to Han as a father figure, it’s doubtful Rey is actually the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia, as it’s probably a safe bet both Han and Leia would realize Rey to be their “long lost” daughter (if they had one). Plus, that would make Han and Leia even worse parents than originally thought (Kylo Ren, ahem).

2. Luke Skywalker’s daughter: Just about the entire movie seems to allude to the fact that Rey is Luke’s daughter. Rey is on the Light Side of The Force, she battles the bad guy, she finds Luke’s lightsaber (or the lightsaber finds her), she goes on a quest to find Luke, Maz tells her she has seen her eyes before, and of course, she finds Luke at the end of the movie. However, this theory could just be too obvious, with perhaps Abrams and Disney trying to steer us in the wrong direction.

3. Relative Of Obi-Wan (via Yahoo): Could Rey be related somehow to Obi-Wan Kenobi? It’s possible, and there is even one fan-theory suggesting Rey may be the daughter of Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s own daughter; however, we haven’t heard anything about Obi-Wan having a daughter in any of the movies, have we?

4. Reborn Anakin/Darth Vader (via Inquisitor): Another fan-theory suggests Rey may actually be a reincarnated Anakin Skywalker. I’m not sure how much merit this holds as we’ve seen Anakin’s Force Ghost; however, it’s alway possible that Snoke may have a Dark Side power of bringing back the dead (somehow). It could also be argued that Rey has more in common with Anakin than anyone else, which leads us to…

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23463:]]

5. Conceived by The Force similar to Anakin (no father): I thought of this one. As Rey is so powerful, does she have a similar origin to Anakin’s? As we saw in Phantom Menace, it was said Anakin had no father and was conceived by The Force. It’s possible the “force has awakened” and created Rey. We could even go further and suggest that Rey may go a similar path to Anakin and turn to the Dark Side herself.

The last two theories suggest that Rey was a Jedi serving under Luke Skywalker when the tradgedy occurred that sent Luke into hiding — with the Padawan that killed all the others. This also helps explain why Rey can use The Force (as she already had prior training).

6. Evil Jedi – mind wiped: Rey is the evil Jedi/padawan who killed all the others, but Luke mind-wiped her and planted false memories as he didn’t want to kill her. This could also explain why Rey had such strong feelings to stay on Jakku —  because Luke implanted that into her because he never wanted her to leave.

7. Luke’s apprentice who survived (via reddit): It’s possible Rey survived the slaughter, and Luke hid her on Jakku so as not to get killed. In the process, he mind-wiped her and planted false memories to either protect her, or as he felt like he failed, to not have any more Jedi (and never wanted her to leave).

Sounds Like Merged Smart Hulk Is Coming In Thor: Ragnarok Or Avengers: Infinity War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23458:]]

We may see a merged smart form of the Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok or even The Avengers: Infinity War movies.

Ruffalo previously teased that Banner and the Hulk would have a confrontation, and now Ruffalo talks about the two merging.

As fans of the comic books know, at times Banner and the Hulk have merged or one has over taken the other (due to various factors).

Speaking with AICN, Ruffalo offered the following:

He’s on the run. I think that we carry that through. It’s not just a matter of taking himself to some remote place and hiding. Now he’s removing himself from humanity altogether. I’m not sure where we’re going to head with that, but I’m sure that’s probably still very much alive within him. It’s very subtle, but the Banner/Hulk consciousness is beginning to meld a little bit. Who decided to leave? Was it Banner or Hulk? It’s not really in the [cinematic] mythology of Hulk up until that moment to be that conscious and pro-active. It’s interesting, right?”

“Yeah, I think it [will be fun]. I think it’s really exciting where we could go with it. Now I feel like we’re kind of in No Man’s Land. I mean, the comic books have kind of broached the subject, but we’re moving away from the traditional Hulk/Banner relationship. We’re starting to mess with it a little bit. Now we’re going to see how far we can push the limits of it before people get sick of it!”

The merged version (or a one-sided version) of the Hulk on the big screen would be interesting as it could mean the introduction of the Green Scar, the Hulk from Planet Hulk and World War Hulk.

The merged version of the Hulk also brings up memories of the Peter David 1990s version (one of my favorites), which I consider more a superhero version of the Hulk, aka Prof. Hulk (and who also appeared in Infinity Gauntlet). I actually had Peter David sign my issue of Incredible Hulk #377 at the recent NYCC that featured the first Banner/Grey/ Green merged Hulk and asked him if he thought we would ever see that version in a movie. He said he doubted it and added this one of his favorite versions of the Hulk, too.

“Thor: Ragnarok” hits November 3, 2017.

No Hulk Movie Because Marvel & Universal Don’t Get Along Says Mark Ruffalo

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23457:]]

Mark Ruffalo previously offered the reason there is no new solo Hulk movie is because Universal Studios owns the distribution rights.

Now Ruffalo exands upon the subject, talking with Yahoo, offering that Universal and Marvel don’t even get along.

“I think they’ve been working on it. Marvel and Universal famously don’t get along very well, and so that’s working against us, definitely. But I know for a fact that everyone is holding out hope that one day we can do it. But the nature of the relationship right now, it’s a little prohibitive. And I hope that that changes, that changes with regimes, it changes over the course of time. But right now it doesn’t look particularly promising.”

It’s noted that things are working out between Sony and Marvel (with Spider-Man), which Ruffalo offers that’s the hope for Universal and Marvel, but again says things are not good between the two.

Yeah, I think ultimately that’s what they’re after, it working out for both sides. But like I said, Marvel and Universal are just not having a good time together right now.

The gist of the problem seems to be a feud between Universal’s parent company, Comcast, and Marvel Studios’ own parent company, Disney, over a failed merger from back in 2004, as Ruffalo compares the battle to Marvel vs. DC.

I know. It’s like the Marvel Universe and DC going after each other.

While no solo Hulk film looks to be happening any time soon, the Green Goliath is slated to next appear in Thor: Ragnarok and The Avengers: Infinity War.

Regarding a Hulk solo film, I wonder if the rights are in regards to the title of the film or if the majority of the screen time features the Hulk? Say for instance, Marvel simply didn’t use “Hulk” in the title (i.e. “Warbound”), would that be able to get by Universal’s distribution rights? Or what about if they gave a different character a minute of more screen time (i.e. Caiera) than the Hulk?

Update: Ruffalo hints at a smart Hulk for Thor: Ragnaork.

Potential Justice League Details For Batman Vs. Superman

Batman Vs. Superman Trailer #2

As the movie is titled the “Dawn of Justice” we know members of the Justice League will be appearing in Batman Vs. Superman.

Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg are confirmed to appear.

Now possible details on their appearance come from Latino Review who state Wonder Woman’s appearance is basically a “glorified cameo,”; they repeat the rumor that The Flash will make a brief appearance as a blur; it’s said Lex Luthor will somehow introduce Jason Momoa’s Aquaman into the film; Ray Fisher as Cyborg is said to appear in the second half of Batman Vs. Superman, and it’s also said Green Lantern won’t show up until near the end of the first Justice League movie.

Kurt Russell Confirms Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Talks

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23453:]]

A few days ago it was said Kurt Russell is James Gunn’s choice to play Star-Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and now the actor has confirmed talks have taken place.

Kurt Russell appeared on an MTV podcast offering he has spoken to Gunn about it, but hasn’t seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, so he is not sure if he will take the role.

“I literally got a phone call two days ago about this,” Russell said. “I’ve never seen Guardians of the Galaxy, so I don’t know anything about it. Many times I’ve heard, ‘That’s a really fun movie, a really good movie [with] great characters.’ I don’t know it!”

“I didn’t realize that [James Gunn] had written and directed it, but we talked to each other on the phone,” Russell explained. “And I just had to be honest and say, ‘Thank you for considering me, I have to read [the script], and I have to watch the [first] movie because I can’t bring anything for you [right now]. I’ve got nothing to offer here. So, I’m amazed to get asked about this because everybody knows more about it than I do.”

“It could be a one line thing for all I know,” Russell offered. “But yeah, we’re talking about it… there’s just nothing to talk about at the moment.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has a May 5, 2017 release.
