It’s learned director David F. Sandberg will be filming the DCEU Shazam movie next year in Toronto, Ontario.
A Canadian filming website, What’s Filming, posted that filming on Shazam will take place from February until May.
Shazam also apparently has the working title of “Franklin.”
With the filming dates on Shazam learned, hopefully that means casting announcements will be coming soon.
It was once thought that Alan Ritchson had a shot at the role of Captain Marvel, but Ritchson was recently cast in the live-action Titans series.
Rumored contenders for Shazam now include WWE superstar John Cena and Josh Sasse, known for the Galavant and No Tomorrow TV series. Stranger Things and IT movie’s Finn Wolfhard happens to be a fan-favorite to play the role of the young Billy Batson.
Further rumors also include the Shazam movie will closely follow the comics: Based on the DC Comics character “Shazam!” Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel, the world’s mightiest mortal, when he says the magic word “Shazam! The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes. The wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury.
