Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair In The Works

Sony’s TriStar Pictures is moving forward with the fourth C.S. Lewis adaptation with Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair.

Deadline reports Life Of Pi and Finding Neverland scribe David Magee has already been working on writing the script.

The previous three Narnia movies grossed $1.6 million worldwide, and the novels have sold well over 100 million copies.

Disney developed the first two movies, with Fox the third. It’s noted TriStar is a good fit for Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair because “the property fits TriStar head Hannah Minghella’s mandate to generate literary properties that will travel, something that fits Tom Rothman’s mandate at Sony.”

“Developing this project with The C.S. Lewis Company has been immensely exciting and a real joy,” Mark Gordon, a producer on the upcoming movie, said in a statement. “We are so pleased to team up with our good friends at TriStar and our partners at eOne to introduce this new, magical chapter of the Narnia franchise to fans around the world, both old and new.”

“Reading The Chronicles of Narnia was one of the formative experiences of my childhood, just as it has been for children around the world for generations,” Minghella said. “To have the opportunity to bring new life to the Narnia films with a new creative team is a career highlight. Our mission is to build TriStar Pictures as a home for filmmaker-driven literary and commercial movies, and this film represents a huge step forward for us. We’re thrilled to be working with Mark, Doug, Melvin, Vincent, and David as we adapt The Silver Chair.”

“It’s been both fun and exciting to work with Mark Gordon and David Magee to develop the next Narnian movie, and now it’s a thrill to welcome Tristar to our Narnia family. I greatly look forward to plunging again into the joys and challenges of once more bringing Narnia to the screen, this time with the wonderful story of The Silver Chair,”  C.S. Lewis’ stepson Douglas Gresham and producer on Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair said.

Vincent Sieber and Melvin Adams are also on board as producers.

Tron 3 Still On The Table

It’s been quite some time since news of a new Tron movie has been heard, but following Disney cancelling Tron 3 right before production was said to begin was a bit of a surprise. The sequel to Tron: Legacy got so far as having a potential title with “Tron: Asension,” and the movie was supposed to film in Vancouver with Garett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and director Joseph Kosinski returning.

The rumored reason Tron 3 didn’t go forward was blamed on the underperformance of Tomorrowland in addition to Tron: Legacy not being a big merchandise seller. It was said Disney wanted to concentrate on their animated movies and big tentpole films. In addition, Tron: Legacy only made $400 million worldwide on a high $170 million budget.

Now over a year later, there is at least a glimmer of hope about Tron 3. Screen Rant caught up with Tron: Legacy producer and former Disney development executive Brigham Taylor who at least confirmed talks about Tron 3 have been going on.

“I always hope for that. I just had a wonderful visit to Shanghai, where they have an amazing attraction based on Tron Legacy. The designers just did such an amazing job creating the feeling of stepping onto The Grid, and that indelible visual world that Lisberger created and Kosinski explored… and I think there’s a real stickiness to that that I hope can grow into a film or whatever else. So I don’t know what I’d ‘hint’ at other than that I hope for that, and that there’s obviously been conversations.”

Previous details mentioned by director Jopsh Kosinki a while back stated Tron 3 wouldn’t have be a rehash of Tron: Legacy, and the director also compared Tron 3 to an Empire Strikes Back.

Sebastian Stan Confirmed For Avengers: Infinity War

It’s revealed that Sebastian Stan will be returning as Winter Soldier for Avengers: Infinity War.

In THR‘s report on getting cast in We Have Always Lived in the Castle, it’s mentioned Sebastian Stan will shoot Avengers: Infinity War early next year.

Last we saw of the Winter Soldier, he was back in stasis under the watchful eye of Black Panther as shown at the end of Captain America: Civil War. With the info about Sebastian Stan appearing in Avengers: Infinity War coming out, we can speculate that possibly Winter Solider may be freed in the upcoming Black Panther movie, or it’s possible Winter Soldier could simply be freed to help out the heroes in Avengers: Infinity War.

Sebastian Stan hasn’t yet been confirmed for Black Panther, which hits February 16, 2018, followed by Avengers: Infinity War‘s May 4, 2018 release.

Suicide Squad Breaks Monday August Record

Following the record opening weekend, now the success for Suicide Squad continues as the movie breaks the Monday August box office record as well.

Suicide Squad netted $13.1 million for its first Monday, which again beats out Guardians of the Galaxy‘s $11.7 million the Monday following its release back in 2014.

To date, Suicide Squad has made $146,825,722 domestically, $133,300,000 in foreign markets; for a currently worldwide total of $280,125,722.

While the reviews have been overly negative (and some say biased), Suicide Squad looks to be a hit by the fans as it’s a fun movie and the actors are all top notch. Suicide Squad has been compared to the Marvel movies (which the critics always rave about) by a lot of fans as it contains that action and humor, but also just a so-so villain, which plagues the Marvel movies sans Tom Hiddlston’s Loki.

(numbers via Amazon’s Box Office Mojo)

“Suicide Squad” is now in theaters directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

Synopsis:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Supervillains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

No Worries About Wonder Woman Movie

Following all the negative reviews for Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad, I’ve seen more than a few reactions state the same regarding the upcoming Gal Gadot Wonder Woman movie.

While it’s true that both Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad had their faults, they were at least enjoyable and lots of people did love them (I’m fond of the BvS Ultimate Edition myself).

Regarding Wonder Woman, this will be the first DC movie that Geoff Johns is directly involved with. Johns helped write the Wonder Woman script, and he was also on set in England. Following the Batman Vs. Superman fallout, Johns was elevated to President of DC Entertainment, and you can even argue he is in a better position than that of Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige. While Feige is simply in charge of the Marvel movies, Geoff Johns is involved with all forms of DC: from movies, to TV, to comics to gaming. The Batman Vs. Superman fallout also saw various producers ousted from having much influence, so Wonder Woman probably won’t have the interference that Suicide Squad  (lots of cuts and versions) and even Batman Vs. Superman (didn’t let Snyder go ahead with his cut of the movie) had.

I’ve said it before, and I know some of you will bring up Green Lantern, but Johns was on board as an executive producer in most likely an advisory role. The writers of Green Lantern also recently came out and said not to blame them as the version of the movie was a lot different than their script. I think the pattern we see is that the execs/producers at WB (whoever they are) interfered with these movies a bit too much, but the good news is that they are apparently no longer involved.

“Wonder Woman” has a June 2, 2017 release directed by Patty Jenkins also starring Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, and Saïd Taghmaoui.

Synopsis:

Man Of Steel 2 Said To Be In Development

It’s reported Man of Steel 2 starring Henry Cavill is in active development.

Despite not hearing much about a sequel to the 2013 Superman Man of Steel movie, The Wrap reports sources close to WB filled them in that “Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.”

The article mentions no release date or director involved with Man of Steel 2, but WB does have two untitled DC films to be released on October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019. The report also mentions the solo Ben Affeck The Batman movie will most likely be released prior to Man of Steel 2 as well.

It was said George Miller was involved with Man of Steel 2 at one point, but Miller said while he was involved in talks with DC, regarding Man of Steel 2 it probably wasn’t true.

Back a few months ago saw Henry Cavill make it known he would do Man of Steel 2 as well:

“I do believe it depends on the success of [Batman vs. Superman],” Cavill offered. “If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. for a standalone Superman movie.  But they’ve got their plans set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies, so it’s about finding the time, really.  It’s something that I would be very keen to do.”

Zack Snyder also offered that “part of the reason we didn’t announce a standalone superhero movie this time was to support some of the events of [Batman vs Superman].”

An official WB press release from almost two years ago aso saw word of more Superman movies:

And, in a massive expansion of the Studio’s DC Entertainment-branded content, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will release a slate of at least 10 movies—as well as stand-alone Batman and Superman films…

Zack Snyder also revealed a potential ending for their Man of Steel 2 if they didn’t go with Batman Vs. Superman, which would have tied to Batman:

Originally, it was going to be a straight Superman movie. One of the ideas was that at the end of the movie, a crate of kryptonite would be delivered to Wayne Manor. That didn’t happen, but once Batman was mentioned, he wouldn’t go away. It couldn’t be undone.

Henry Cavill will next be featured as Superman in the Justice League movie.

Here is the current DC line-up:

Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot (June 2, 2017)
Justice League
 (November 17, 2017)

The Flash (March 16, 2018)

Jai Courtney Didn’t Know About Flash In Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad included surprise cameos by members of the Justice League, which also turns out to be a surprise for Jai Courtney.

The movie revealed the background stories for the members of the Suicide Squad and how each Squaddie was caught. For Jai Courtney’s Boomerang, it was revealed The Flash had captured Boomerang during an armed robbery; however, Jai Courtney lets it be known that he only learned about The Flash after watching the movie.

“I didn’t f—ing know that was happening when we were filming. That was a surprise for me when I saw the film,” Jai Courtney told Business Insider.

Courtney continues with mention of how the scene was originally written in the Suicide Squad script.

“It was written like we didn’t really know,” Courtney said. “But it’s part of the roundup of the squad, so my interpretation was that he had been taken out by [Rick] Flag’s crew. But it’s not specified [in the script]. When I saw it, I was like, of course!”

The article notes that Jai Courtney filmed the scene with a green screen (and we can surmise with Ezra Miller filming The Flash separately and then added in post-production), with Courtney going on to talk how it’s a good thing that everything comes together.

“Totally. It was just a nice little thread. That’s what’s cool about all this,” Courtney said. “The potential for that to happen over the course of wherever all this goes is there. The relationships between these characters and different characters in other properties, too. The fact that we can all get into bed and mix it up, the future is bright in that sense.”

Enough Suicide Squad Scenes Cut For Joker Movie; Leto Wanted Rated-R

Jared Leto let it be known a lot of Joker scenes were cut from Suicide Squad, and now it’s learned the number of scenes was actually enough for an entire solo Joker movie (meaning a real lot!).

What’s interesting is that (assuming the rumors are true), WB seems to have cut scenes from Suicide Squad that would have made the Joker (and just about every character) look a lot more bad than what we saw in the movie. For example, the 22 Suicide Squad cut scenes list states the Joker/Harley Quinn helicopter scene was a lot different in that originally Joker pushed Harley Quinn out of the helicopter to kill her, and he didn’t try to do that to save her which was the final version. There’s also the scene were Joker hits Harley that was cut.

In a new interview, Jared Leto talks about the amount of cut scenes and lets it be known he wishes Suicide Squad has been R-rated.

Here are some highlights; the full video interview is below:

Leto describes Joker in Suicide Squad:

“I don’t know how the Joker fits into the film. At least when I read the script, the Joker was kind of a parallel story, and my character, the Joker, was out to rescue Harley and get Harley back from the Suicide Squad.”

Leto offers he feels Suicide Squad is some of his best work:

“I think that scenes we did on the day, and I understand there’s quite a bit that’s been cut out, but the scenes we did on the day were some of my favorite work that I’ve ever done with anyone in a film.”

Joker versus Batman:

“I think the Joker is the perfect villain because he’s the antithesis of Batman who’s this stoic black and white character both visually and in so many other ways, morally. [Batman is] someone who strives for perfection and control filled with restraint. The Joker is complete and total insanity, you know, technicolor… madness… I think that’s why he’s so much fun to play.”

On enough footage for Joker movie and wanted Suicide Squad rated-R:

“I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene that it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity, because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie. If I were to die tomorrow maybe the studio would roll something out. A Rated-R or Rated-X performance somewhere in there.”

On a Joker and Harley Quinn spinoff movie:

“That would be sick and twisted fun. I always wished this film was rated-R, and I had actually said that when we were starting. It felt like if a film was ever going to be rated R, it should be the one about the villains.”

Jared Leto also said it would be interesting to have a Joker and Batman team-up movie, and also says he definitely wants to see more of Joker. Watch more in the video below.

“Suicide Squad” has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

Jason Todd Robin Suicide Squad Easter Egg Revealed

So far 2-for-2 as Jason Todd has been referenced twice with the release of Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad.

We all know the dead Robin suit from Batman Vs. Superman that’s in the Batcave, now we get another reference to Jason Todd in Suicide Squad with Harley Quinn.

As the members of the Suicide Squad were introduced, each member was given an intro featuring credits where it’s learned Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn was involved with the death of Robin (see the image below).

“Accomplice to murder of ROBIN,” Harley Quinn’s intro says.

Joker killed the Jason Todd Robin in the comics as well as the DCEU.

It’s also been rumored that Jason Todd may come back in the upcoming solo The Batman movie as The Red Hood.

Regarding Robin:

WB did confirm it’s Jason Todd.

Robin died around ten years earlier or so in a run in with Joker.

Bruce Wayne is bitterly disappointed and has had previous devastating losses.

The loss of Robin contributed to Batman’s hatred of Superman.

U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad Movie Review

Third Time’s a Charm?

A Film Review of Suicide Squad

At first glance, the idea of Suicide Squad seems like an odd move for DC to expand upon its cinematic universe.  Introducing a collection of marquee villains before formally unveiling the Justice League (which would otherwise be handling these kinds of troublemakers) could easily throw audiences off regarding who they are supposed to be rooting for.  I like giving the bad guys a genuine moment to shine because for the most part, recent superhero films have not produced quality villains and those efforts have harmed those productions.  Of course, Task Force X aren’t exactly the antagonists in this film so we don’t exactly see any of them unleash the beast proper, but if any of them were to be pitted against heroes in a more standard conflict, they should deliver the kind of resistance audiences have been demanding.

Suicide Squad is a very mixed bag when it comes to cinematic adventures.  The plot has a decent hook, but then completely trails off into blandness.  Everyone in the cast produces solid performances, but only two are permitted to round their characters out.  The visual effects are good, but nowhere near to matching the spectacle that preceded it in Batman Vs. Superman.  When was the last time you heard poor editing sandbagging a finished production?  Believe everything you’ve heard about that issue because far too many lines get cut off during this production, and it boggles the mind why so much footage is arbitrarily removed for no other reason than shaving a handful of minutes off the total runtime.  Factoring in all the rumors of constant studio interference, added pressure pushed on director David Ayer for making this production redeem BvS, and an extremely abbreviated pre-production time frame, begins to explain why all these issues existed in the first place.

This production is the furthest thing from flawless, but I cannot be brought to throw this film completely under the bus as the vast majority of the critical community has.  Its saving grace is the cast itself, the real world chemistry they demonstrated as a collective doing promo work at Good Morning America, and it all paid off dividends in their performances in the final cut of this film.  The chemistry begins with Will Smith who found a way to reconnect with his pre-After Earth blockbuster charisma by demonstrating leadership as a character, but also allowing his fellow cast mates (not just Margot Robbie) to play back his energy with their own in genuine synergy.  It brought about incredible surprises such as Jai Courtney who has been on everyone’s list of worst actors in Hollywood for years, but somehow found a way to have fun with this role and actually communicate it to the camera.  It’s capped by Viola Davis whose Amanda Waller is every bit as cold and calculating as any of these “super villains,” but also demonstrates the same enthusiasm as her younger costars, approaching this role as seriously as any other.

Action Style

There’s an awful lot of gunplay in this film which is fine seeing how most characters are not “meta-humans” and machine guns can be great equalizers in any situation.  Katana demonstrates a decent amount of martial arts, but we’ve seen better sword play.  It also would have been nice to see more acrobatics from Harley Quinn.

4/6

Action Frame

David Ayer maintains a fairly animated frame when dynamic combat sequences call for it.  There are also a couple of neat moments when the frame literally jumps into the action which certainly intensifies the energy of the scene.

4/5

Lead Performance

Excellent job by Will Smith as the hitman with a human side.  Decent job by Margot Robbie who presents a fun version of Harley Quinn minus that New Yorky accent.  Viola Davis is simply inspiring as Amanda Waller.

5/6

Supporting Performance

Jai Courtney +  /Jay Hernandez +  /Karen Fukuhara –  /Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag gave me flashbacks to Man of Steel’s General Zod.  I also thought whatever romantic chemistry that was supposed to be between him and Cara Delevingne was gag inducing, but that’s ok because her Enchantress was equally bleh.

2/5

Music

Ayer must have gotten pro tips from Zack Snyder about using really good pop music to artificially enhance your scenes.  Some of the choices worked while others raised an eyebrow.  Here’s a pro tip: don’t listen to Zack Snyder.

4/6

Sound F/X

Decent enough, especially for those really into rapid gunfire.

3/5

“Moving” = 22/33

Digital F/X

Diablo shows off some of the best fire manipulation effects you’ve seen in blockbusters in perhaps forever.  The rest of the CGI is heavy on the back end which shows off the big bad and another generic looking world ending event.

4/6

Special F/X

Great work here with stunts, explosions and ballistics.

4/5

Costumes

Some were totally on point (Deadshot, Enchantress, Soldiers), some were a tad minimalist (Diablo, Boomerang) and others were just curious (Joker and Harley Quinn).

3/6

Hair & Makeup

All about Killer Croc here and his body makeup was absolutely exquisite not to mention Diablo’s ornate tattoos.

4/5

Exteriors

Most of this film is taking place in some form of implied exterior, but because it’s all happening at night, it looks like they picked up principal photography whenever the new Ghostbusters production finished shooting their urban combat sequences.

3/6

Interiors

Respectable.  Some scenes have some exceptional set design going on, but most get by on the minimum.

3/5

“Picture” = 21/33

Hook

I like how the US government is thinking about finding some way to counter Superman going rogue, but would any of “these” people be able to do anything to stop him?

3/4

Conflict

Bad guys get manipulated by bad guys and are betrayed by bad guys.

2/4

Resolution

Crisis is averted, but it remains to be seen if Task Force X is actually a thing anymore seeing this film’s dénouement.

2/4

Dialogue

Truly, moments of greatness were brought forth in the dialogue.  Unfortunately, because of the aforementioned editing problems, several lines feel awkwardly cut, brief and done a complete disservice.

3/6

Exposition

The first act of this film is all exposition, and it is more entertaining than the remaining 2/3 of the rest.

4/5

Character Uniqueness

I absolutely loved the humanity behind a monster like Deadshot.  I truly felt for Diablo’s tragedy.  I am going to have some difficulty adjusting to this new relationship between Joker and Harley.  Boomerang is copying a bit from Deadpool.

4/6

Character Relatability

Deadshot is probably the only person the audience could (and should) connect with.  Every other character is fishing with pure charisma.

2/5

“Story” = 20/34

Overall MPS Rating:  63/100

If you are looking for the redemption of BvS, this isn’t the movie you’re looking for.  If you are looking for a “superhero” flick that doesn’t take itself too seriously, you’re getting warmer.  I’m not going to call out every other review outlet and label them as just plain wrong about trashing Suicide Squad, but I just didn’t think it was that bad.  I wouldn’t credit this film as being something to aspire to, but rather, a promising place to improve from because a bit more planning and time and less studio BS can go a long way for any film production.  It remains to be seen if this is worthy of its own franchise, but it would truly be a crime to never see any of these villains again in any capacity as DC’s cinematic universe continues to expand.

Regarding Jared Leto’s Joker:  He certainly went out of his way to be as different from Nicholson and Ledger as humanly possible.  I appreciate his antics to “get into” the character along the lines of Ledger’s devotion.  Unfortunately, his efforts paid off minimally as he’s more of a plot device for Harley either explaining where she’s at or where she’s going.  I can understand Leto being upset at all his scenes that were cut, but he should forward his complaints to WB’s executives and the teaser cutting company they hired for the final edit of this film that got released to the public.  Either way, I appreciated Leto’s performance much more than I do the visual design for his character.  The tats, the grill, the bling and the hairdo simply won’t do for me.  Now, if he were being cast as a mutant Joker for the Batman Beyond adaptation …

Suicide Squad Has Best August Opening Ever

Suicide Squad, despite all the negative reviews, now has the best opening ever for the month of August.

The film has netted an estimated $135.1 million for its opening weekend, which passes that of Marvel and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014 that made $94.3 million.

Here are the estimated totals for the weekend:

Domestic: $135,105,000
Foreign:    $132,000,000
Total:         $267,105,000

Some other positives for Suicide Squad include:

Will Smith’s biggest domestic debut.

The number pushes WB past the billon dollar mark for 2016, marking the 16th year in a row.

Pushed total weekend tickets sales to a never-before seen $230M in August.

Makes Suicide Squad the third-highest opener of the year (behind Captain America: Civil War‘s $179.1M, BvS‘ $166 million and above Finding Dory‘s $135.06 million).

Largest August Thursday preview total of $20.5 million.

Largest August opening day with $65.2 million (includes Thursday previews).

Second highest domestic gross of the Summer.

WB’s fifth-highest domestic opening off all-time (behind Harry Potter – Deathly Hallows 2‘s $169.1 million, Batman Vs. Superman‘s $166 million in March, Dark Knight Rises‘ $160.88 million, and The Dark Knight‘s $158.4 million).

Second-best debut worldwide for a DC property after Batman Vs. Superman‘s $422.5 million.

Seventh best for any superhero movie.

Suicide Squad beats the $264.7 million global launch of 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool and opened in six less foreign markets.

As previously noted, the big question is whether or not Suicide Squad has any staying power.

22 Suicide Squad Cuts Revealed

It’s been made known that there’s more than one cut of Suicide Squad out there, and in addition, Jared Leto let it be known a lot of Joker scenes were cut from the movie.

Now a list of 22 rumored Suicide Squad cuts has hit Reddit.

David Ayer did confirm that there will be least ten minutes of deleted scenes on the Suicide Squad Blu-Ray, but it seems there was more footage cut than that.

Jared Leto also let it be known that his Joker footage probably wouldn’t see the light of day, other than if he died.

Here’s the list:

1. In early cuts, the movie’s opening detailed June Moon’s possession by Enchantress in real time. Reshoots reshuffled the scene to be later in the movie in flashback form in favor of a new opening centered on Deadshot.

2. Deadshot in the prison cell, watching the rain fall and thinking about his daughter.

3. El Diablo observing the flame of a lit match, before putting it out due to his vow to no longer use his powers.

4. El Diablo being escorted to a training center by being placed in a tube that fills with water to quel his flames, and then unceremoniously dropped onto the ground.

5. Early interviews showed Captain Boomerang’s racism and sexism, but the movie is light on examples of such behavior, which have apparently been deleted. Most of them were reportedly directed at Katana, to whom Boomerang is attracted to.

6. Early reports indicated more backstory for Killer Croc, revealing that he lived his entire life as a social outcast due to his physical appearance and has convinced himself that he is beautiful in his own way. Croc crossed paths with Batman while working as muscle-for-hire for numerous Gotham’s crime bosses, while secretly planning to take over one day. There were also scenes displaying his affinity for making sculptures out of discarded materials. Aside from jokes about Croc viewing himself as ‘beautiful,’ none of these were retained in the final cut.

7. Also deleted was a scene where Croc becomes sick at the helicopter escort to Midway City, throws up half-digested pieces of goat, and then eats them again, disgusting the nearby Navy Seals.

8. Early cuts reportedly included a passing reference to Slipknot being a serial rapist, likely to further paint him as unsympathetic to the audience ahead of his own death.

9. More scenes of Rick Flag and June Moon’s romantic relationship, including him reading the files of the Suicide Squad recruits after Waller delivers them to him.

10. Another scene where Flag and Moon are out on a date.

11. Extended scene of Joker interrogating Captain Griggs, including the line, “I can’t wait to show you my toys,” which was in every trailer, but was removed from the movie.

12. Joker and his men escaping after shooting up a restaurant. Harley, who is already affiliated with the Joker, follows them on a motorcycle and intercepts their car. Joker bangs his head against the glass in frustration.

13. Joker and Harley then get into a fight, which ends with Harley pointing a gun at Joker’s head. Joker sweet-talks Harley into lowering the gun, charming her, then backhands her across the face. Afterwards he sweet-talks her again and they kiss. Watch the scene here.

14. Extended Ace Chemicals scene where Harley jumps into the chemicals. More bits of dialogue from Joker.

15. Extended Batmobile chase scene with more interaction between Joker and Harley. One of the examples, presented in all the trailers, is the Joker punching the roof of his car.

16. Harley using her baseball bat as a mock gun to play shoot at invisible foes.

17. Extended scene of Joker breaking into the nanobomb manufacture facility to arrange for Harley’s neck-bomb to be disabled.

18. More interactions between Harley and Boomerang. Early cuts apparently included her really disliking him despite growing affectionate to all the other members of the squad.

19. Extended bar scene with Harley taking everyone’s orders. Deadshot calls for a shot, Katana wants whiskey, Croc and Boomerang settle for beer, Harley asks what Diablo wants and he prefers water which she jokes, “is a good idea.” The scene was featured in the trailers, but in the movie it cuts directly to Deadshot’s speech about them almost pulling the mission off.

20. Removed several scenes with the Joker to repaint his relationship with Harley as more loving rather than abusive.

21. Joker and Harley get into an argument after he rescues her in the hijacked helicopter. In early cuts he reportedly pushes her out to kill her, then the helicopter gets shot down. This was apparently reworked into the helicopter getting shot down first and Joker pushing her out to save her.

22. Joker returns during the final battle in the subway station, face half-burnt from the helicopter crash, which apparently leads to a brief altercation with the Squad. He calls for Harley to escape with him but she refuses for once in order to help her friends, and the Joker escapes after throwing a live grenade at the group to cover his own escape.

Adam Beach Reveals Which Justice League Member Captured Slipknot In Suicide Squad

Spoilers for Suicide Squad follow.

Suicide Squad kicked off by revealing how most of the members got caught and landed in prison. One backstory we didn’t see was Adam Beach’s Slipknot.

As the Suicide Squad was forming, Slipnot got out of a vehicle and decked a female soldier/guard. I believe he also made reference to not liking women (or such).

Now Adam Beach reveals to Empire Magazine what went down with Slipknot leading up to that scene revealing he got into a tussle with a Justice League member, similar to Boomerang.

“David asked me, ‘So they kidnapped and caught you — what were you doing?’ I said, ‘Man, I was strangling Wonder Woman. What else was I doing?’ He started laughing,” Beach said (Slipnot’s weapon of choice is a rope).

Slipknot’s fate in the movie was also similar to what transpired in the comics, basically being set up by Boomerang; however, I believe Slipknot’s fate in the movie was much worse than what happened in the comic book story.
