Mike Colter Rumored For Luke Cage MCU Return

Two scoopers, Daniel RPK and MyTimeToShine, are both saying the same thing, that Mike Colter is returning as Luke Cage in the MCU.

This comes after news that Krysten Ritter is already confirmed to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

From Marvel Netflix To Marvel Studios

Colter first played Luke Cage in Netflix’s Jessica Jones before starring in his own Luke Cage series and the team-up Defenders. Those shows were part of the Marvel Netflix era, which operated completely separate from Marvel Studios under Jeph Loeb.

Now with Marvel struggling on Disney+ and Kevin Feige retooling the television side of the MCU after the expensive Secret Invasion flop, the studio has been looking back to the Netflix shows that fans actually liked.

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is leading the charge, albeit slowly amid the retooling, and Ritter’s return paved the way for speculation about Colter and others.

What The Rumors Say

Daniel RPK and MyTimeToShine both claim Colter is back as Luke Cage. While nothing is official yet, the timing lines up, since Colter’s series Evil on Paramount+ wrapped last year.

Recently saw the announcement that Colter will be starring in Cupertino, a new legal dram series at CBS, so maybe he can do both.

Ritter, Finn Jones, and even Colter himself have teased returning before, and Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum previouslyy admitted the studio is actively exploring stories with the Netflix heroes.

What It Means For The MCU

If Colter does return, it would put nearly all the main Defenders back under Marvel Studios — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage — with Iron Fist rumored to be recast or reimagined.
