Doctor Strange was up for Best Visual Effects, but came up short as Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book came home the winner. On the bright side, at least it’s “all in the family” as Doctor Strange and Jungle Book are both from Disney.
The Jungle Book netted $966,550,600 at the box office.
Jon Favreau is developing a sequel to The Jungle Book as well as a live-action adaptation of the animated Lion King movie.
The Jungle Book also beat out Star Wars: Rogue One, Deepwater Horizon and Kubo and the Two Strings.
Star Wars: Rogue One also lost for Best Sound Mixing, which went to Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge.
