With ABC airing the new Marvel’s Inhumans series starting at the end of September, it was thought Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 5 would be pushed back possibly to 2018.
The good news is it is learned that Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 5 will begin airing immediately following the end of the 8-episode run of Inhumans.
“It’s going to come on right after Inhumans,” ABC president Channing Dungey said at the 2017 Television Critics Association’s press tour today. “As soon as the eight episodes of Inhumans is done, then S.H.I.E.L.D. will begin.”
In addition to Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD returning this year, it also became known the 22 episodes of Season 5 will not go on a break! Previous episodes also saw an extended Winter break which negatively impacted the series ratings. Now it looks to be a straight shot! Definite good news!
Inhumans airs on ABC starting on September 29th; if we assume there are no interruptions, look for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 5 to premiere around November 24th.
Both series will be airing Friday nights on ABC.
I’m actually really excited for the return of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD as this past Season was really good with the different storylines that included Ghost Rider, the LMDs and the Framework–and of course with the cliffhanger of Coulson being in space!
