The next Kingsman movie is known to be a prequel; however, various sites are reporting it’s “shocking” that Taron Egerton won’t be back for “Kingsman 3.”
As the Kingsman prequel is set prior to the first two films and in the year 1918, it isn’t really shocking that Taron Egerton won’t be in the film.
Creator Mark Millar takes to Twitter to clear up the confusion noting that technically Kingsman 3 will come after the prequel is released.
“People seem awfully confused by this. The Kingsman movie Matthew is shooting in the New Year is a prequel set at the beginning of the organisation in 1918 as reported a while back. Kingsman 3 comes later,” Millar posted on Twitter.
So if anything, Mark Millar confirms a fourth Kingsman is going to happen by the sounds of his tweet.
Regarding Taron Egerton not being in the prequel, he recently filled in Yahoo:
“I’m not in the next Kingsman movie,” Egerton confirmed. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to tell you… That doesn’t mean I won’t be a Kingsman ever again. I was with Matthew [Vaughn] as little as a few days ago and spoke to him. We’re very much still in business together, it’s just that his next journey in that universe doesn’t involve me. Which I think is sacrilegious! I think his idea for the new one is incredibly exciting, and I’m sad that I won’t be on that journey with him, but it’s not the last you’ve seen of Eggsy.”
