Mario Day is here, and Nintendo is using March 10 to celebrate in a big way.
This year’s MAR10 Day doubles as a 40th anniversary celebration for Super Mario Bros., while also helping build momentum for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which hits theaters April 1.
Nintendo also dropped the movie’s final trailer on March 9 with the line, “It takes a lot of star power to save the galaxy.”

Nintendo turns Mario Day into a 40th anniversary event
Nintendo says this year’s MAR10 Day includes events for fans of all ages tied to both the Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary and the upcoming movie.
The company is rolling out game promotions, in-store appearances, sweepstakes, and special Mario Kart World events across the month.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gets a big Mario Day push
Nintendo is clearly using Mario Day to spotlight The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Along with yesterday’s final trailer, the company’s MAR10 Day messaging points directly to the film as one of the centerpieces of this year’s celebration.
The movie opens April 1 and features Mario and Luigi alongside characters including Yoshi and Princess Rosalina, which fits the bigger galaxy-focused push Nintendo has been teasing.

Nintendo New York and San Francisco host MAR10 Day events
Nintendo’s New York and San Francisco stores are hosting a week of Mario-themed activities.
Fans can stop by to play Mario games, shop Mario merchandise, and take part in special events.
One of the biggest attractions takes place today, March 10, when Mario himself will appear for photos from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nintendo New York and from 4 to 7 p.m. at Nintendo San Francisco.
Nintendo also launched an in-store sweepstakes beginning March 4 through the My Nintendo kiosk, offering fans a shot at a family vacation to experience Super Nintendo World at either Universal Studios Hollywood or Universal Orlando Resort.

Mario game sales and Mario Tennis Fever tournament also part of the celebration
Nintendo says select Mario games are on sale from March 8 through March 14, with discounts available at retailers and official Nintendo stores.
The company also announced a Mario Tennis Fever Tournament for March 14 at both store locations, with Warp Pipe Pass registration opening March 9 and all participants receiving a special giveaway.
Beyond the store events, Nintendo is also promoting Mario Kart World online races, Nintendo Switch Online retro Mario titles, and even a Lunchables partnership tied to Nintendo Switch 2 prizes.
MAR10 Day isn’t just a one-day promo this year. Nintendo has basically turned it into a full marketing campaign around Mario’s 40th anniversary and the new movie.
