New Lanterns Image Has Fans Asking: Where’s The Green Lantern Show?

Following my first report on how the trailer has been yanked and with every other site now catching up, a new image from Lanterns has been released, offering another look at Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart.

The image shows the pair sitting in a rural small-town bar having a few drinks while in the middle of their murder investigation.

It’s another preview that keeps pushing the same grounded tone DC and HBO Max have been teasing for the series.

New Lanterns image keeps the grounded mystery vibe

Similar to the trailer, the new still doesn’t show ring action, constructs, aliens, or any larger cosmic Green Lantern elements.

Instead, it doubles down on the very grounded crime drama angle.

Hal and John are seated at the bar looking off toward something happening out of frame, which fits with the idea that Lanterns is leaning hard into its investigation story.

The setting also continues the show’s stripped-down look, with the focus staying on the characters and the small-town environment instead of superhero spectacle.

Fans also noticed that Hal is wearing the ring, while John does not. There is speculation that Hal is actually training John to be his replacement. It’s also known that Aaron Pierre will be featured in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow. Kyle Chandler has not been announced. We’ll leave it up to you to decide what that means.

Murder investigation takes the Lanterns to Nebraska

The image features Hal and John in a rural bar while working the case at the center of the show.

While parts of Lanterns will be set in Iowa, it’s said that much of the investigation reportedly takes place in Sheridan County, Nebraska.

The scene appears to set up a feud with the locals at the bar, as the previously released image above suggests, where Hal and John won’t exactly be welcomed with open arms as they dig deeper into the murder case.

Release info

Lanterns doesn’t have a specific release date, but will be released in August. So far, HBO and Gunn have been mum about why the trailer has been pulled.
