Lance Reddick Dead At 60: Known For John Wick, The Wire

Lance Reddick is dead at the age of 60 who is known for a plethora of roles including the John Wick franchise, with Chapter 4 due out next week, The Wire, Fringe, and the actor was recently cast as Zeus in the Disney Plus Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

Reddick “passed away suddenly this morning from natural causes.” the actor’s rep confirmed on Friday.

“Lance will be greatly missed,” his rep said. “Please respect his family’s privacy at this time.”

He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick, and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.

Update: Stephanie Reddick tweeted the following statement.

“Lance was taken from us far too soon. Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them,” she said.

“And to the thousands of Destiny players who played in special tribute to Lance, thank you,” the statement continued. “Lance loved you as much as he loved the game. Donations may be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown.”

While the Baltimore native didn’t appear at the John Wick 4 premiere, he was still doing interviews to promote the release all this week.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick,” said John Wick star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski in a statement. “He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.”

Ian McShane who plays Winston added, “Total shock and disbelief. Lance was a wonderful human being and a wonderful colleague. My deepest condolences, peace and love to his wife, Stephanie, and all his family.”

Lionsgate, the studio behind the franchise released a statement.

“The world of Wick would not be what it is without Lance Reddick and the unparalleled depth he brought to Charon’s humanity and unflappable charisma, Said the studio. “Lance leaves behind an indelible legacy and hugely impressive body of work, but we will remember him as our lovely, joyful friend and Concierge. We’re stunned and heartbroken, and our deepest condolences go to his beloved family and his fans all around the world.”

Dave Simon, the creator and showrunner behind The Wire and HBO also released statements on Twitter.

“Consummate professional, devoted collaborator, lovely and gentle man, loyal friend. Could go on, but no, I can’t go on. This is gutting. And way, way, way too soon,” said Simon.

HBO said, “Lance has been part of the HBO family for over 20 years, starring in several projects including iconic roles in Oz and The Wire. He is held in the highest regard by all who knew and worked with him and we are proud to be part of his legacy. He will be missed dearly.”
