Kraven The Hunter has cast Alessandro Nivola in the villain role of the movie.
It’s unknown which villain the actor is playing, with Deadline only offering “the villain in the film.”
Alessandro Nivola confirmed the casting news on Instagram which reunites him with director J.C. Chandor from 2014’s A Most Violent Year: “Last thing the world needs to know right now but it’s not fake news. A second date for me and JC Chandor. #kraventhehunter #Marvel #sonypictures #AMostViolentYear.”
Update: Christopher Abbott is playing the main villain.
Kraven the Hunter will be an anti-hero
Interestingly enough, Kraven happens to be a major Spider-Man villain, but the article describes Kraven as being “among Marvel’s most iconic and notorious antiheroes”; so we see similar to Venom and Morbius, that Sony is going to turn Kraven into more of a hero, though it should be said Kraven is actually more of a “villain” than the latter two.
Alessandro Nivola is also known for roles in The Many Saints of Newark, Black Narcissus, and Chimerica.
The cast of the Kraven the Hunter movie includes Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Fred Hechinger as Chameleon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven, and Russell Crowe is thought to be playing the Russian father of Kraven and Chameleon.
Kraven The Hunter has a January 13, 2023 release date directed by J.C. Chandor, with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing, and Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk wrote the screenplay.
Up next as part of Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff universe includes the Jared Leto Morbius movie out April 1, and recently saw the announcement that Dakota Johnson will star as the titular character in the Madame Web movie. Sony also saw Spider-Man: No Way Home pass the 1.8 billion dollar mark at the box office and has the two Tom Hardy Venom movies.
