First Look At Kevin Smith’s Hit-Girl

First Look At Kevin Smith's Hit-Girl

Check out a first look at Kevin Smith’s new Hit-Girl comic book as creator Mark Millar and Smith have unveiled the cover, art and official details.

Hit-Girl: The Golden Rage of Hollywood continues the adventures of the uber-violent, ass-kicking heroine popularized by Chloe Grace Moretz in the 2010 Kick-Ass movie and who debuted in the 2008 comic book series of the same name.

The Kevin Smith comic will debut January 2019 and will be four issues, published by Image Comics, with interior art by Pernille Orum; the cover art is from Francesco Francavilla.

Smith first announced back in May that he was working on the Hit-Girl: The Golden Rage of Hollywood, which finds the justice-seeking adolescent super-assassin storm movie sets and wage war on Hollywood predators, which Deadline notes is a story that couldn’t be any more timely.

“I wrote most of The Golden Rage of Hollywood Hit-Girl arc while recuperating after my health scare, so it was Mindy McCready and her bloody thirst for justice who helped me mend my broken heart,” Kevin Smith said. “Telling tales with Mark’s toys was an absolute pleasure, but having Pernille bring it all to life makes this a must-read for me! Pernille’s style is like hot cocoa for the eyes and soul, so I’m ecstatic she opted to lend it to our pint-sized, pre-pubescent Punisher!”

Smith also added on Instagram:

I’m proud to announce the HIT-GIRL series I wrote for @mrmarkmillarhas secured an artist! @pernilleoerum – designer of the @dcsuperherogirls – will draw all four issues of “The Golden Rage of Hollywood!” To the left, you can see Pernille’s first-ever #hitgirl drawing (to the right is the cover of the debut ish by @f_francavilla)! Pernille will be the first woman published to draw an entire arc for Mindy McReady and her fascinating, assassinating alter ego! The story starts this January in issue 13! Mark Millar said: “Kevin is one of my favorite people in Hollywood. He writes dialogue the way I wish people talked, and his intelligence and humor fits into this world just so perfectly. I wrote him a fan letter over twenty years ago asking to see his Superman script and I was there when Clerks was screened in Scotland even before that, so you can imagine how delighted I am to be somewhere on the same credit page as this guy.”

Look for Kevin Smith’s story to start with Hit-Girl #13, which is a monthtly comic from Image Comics.
