More information is learned about the Jonathan Majors arrest and alleged assault on a woman where the 33-year-old actor possibly gets a huge reprieve as new details become known about the incident.
Saturday night saw the first details released by TMZ where it was learned Jonathan Majors, star of Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Creed III, was arrested following the actor allegedly attacking a woman after coming home from a bar while out Friday night.
The woman has said that Majors got upset with her while in a taxi after she tried to look at his phone while receiving texts from another woman, which she alleges upset Majors and he then attacked her causing a laceration behind her ear, redness, and marks to her face.
In TMZ’s report, it is said the woman was dropped off somewhere and that Jonathan Majors slept spent the night elsewhere, and that “it appears the girlfriend went to police the following morning (Sat.) and reported a crime.”
Jonathan Majors made the 911 call and phoned police
However, according to the police, that is now how things went down at all.
According to Channel 7 ABC News out of Los Angeles, California, it was Jonathan Majors who “called 911 himself to report his concern about his girlfriend, whom he lives with.”
The report says, however, when “police arrived, the girlfriend allegedly told a different story, saying that she and Majors were in a cab on the way home from a bar in Brooklyn when he physically attacked her.”
“The victim informed police she was assaulted,” a police spokesperson said in a statement, reports ABC News.
ABC adds that when “patrol officers noticed marks on her body,” “they then placed Majors under arrest.”
The info is backed up by People who also talked to the police.
According to People’s report, the New York City Police Department told People that “at approximately 1114 hours, police responded to a 911 call inside of an apartment located in the vicinity of West 22nd Street and 8th Avenue, within the confines of the 10 Precinct.”
So again, TMZ reported they thought the girlfriend and Jonathan Majors slept at different locations and that the girlfriend went to the hospital and police the next day, but what really happened is that Jonathan Majors called the police on his girlfriend, the police showed up, the girlfriend told them she was assaulted, the police saw the injures and then arrested Majors.
Jonathan Majors “completely innocent,” girlfriend “having an emotional crisis
The new details and info also fit with what Majors’ lawyer has to say, as his lawyer says Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and that they have proof including video evidence and eyewitness testimony, that his girlfriend was “having an emotional crisis” and added the girlfriend wrote two statements recanting the allegations.
Pure speculation, but we can guess the video evidence would be of the two of them in the taxi, which obviously means the video doesn’t show them fighting, and that the taxi cab driver might be one of the eyewitnesses, as he could testify nothing happened and also that since Majors made the 911 call that a recording of the 911 call exists which can be released as well as any potential body cameras the police may have used.
Jonathan Majors has been charged with three counts of assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree, and is scheduled to go to court on May 8. As a result, the U.S. Army has also pulled its ad campaign with the actor.
“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently,” said criminal defense lawyer Priya Chaudhry on Sunday.
Chaudhry added, “All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”
Reps for the actor also told the trades, “He’s done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”
