Joaquin Phoenix Joker Movie Gets A Composer

With it rumored that the Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie will go into production soon, now it’s learned the film has a composer with Hildur Gudnadottir.

Hildur Gudnadottir is known for composing Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the Trapped TV series, and has worked on music for Arrival, Sicario and The Revenant

Not much is known about the Joker movie, but it has been said to be a standalone origin film set in the 1980s and set outside the DCEU.

The film has been described as centering around the iconic arch nemesis of Batman and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Director Todd Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

In additon to Joaquin Phoenix, also said to star in the Joker movie includes Robert DeNiro as a talk show host; Deadpool 2’s Zazie Beetz is playing a single mom who catches the interest of the man who will become the clown prince of crime; Marc Maron as an agent responsible for getting the Joker on DeNiro’s show, with American Horror Story‘s Frances Conroy and Josh Pais.

“I think [Todd Phillips is] very impressive, and he seems to have a very interesting understanding of this world and what he’s trying to say,” Joaquin Phoenix said in a previous interview. “And so there is something very appealing about that and working with him on this particular project. It feels unique, it is its own world in some ways, and maybe, mostly, it scares the f-cking sh-t out of me or something. It might as well be the thing that scares you the most.”

The Joker movie has been said to start filming in September for its October 4, 2019 release date.

Todd Phillips will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver (The Fighter). The film will be produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff and executive produced by Richard Baratta.
