Joaquin Joker Make-Up Revealed

The Joaquin Phoenix Joker stands officially revealed in full makeup as director Todd Phillips took to Instagram to offer a first look.

Phillips posted the promo video below with “Camera test (w/ sound). Joker.”

As recent set images showed off Joaquin Phoenix as “Arthur Fleck,” we can guess the Joker seen below will also be spotted on set.

The movie is currently being filmed in NYC in Harlem, which is doubling for Gotham City set in the 1980s and Amusement Mile.

In the world of DC Comics, Amusement Mile is the location of a carnival at the north-east corner of Gotham City and is at times the base for the Joker’s gang or the Riddler.

Previous leaked set images and video footage showed off Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck exiting a building, arguing with a clown and then throwing the clown nose down the street. Maybe he was initially turned down for a clown job?

The Joker origin movie centers around the iconic arch nemesis of Batman and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale. The film follows the transformation of a struggling stand-up comedian to a full-blown criminal force of nature.

The movie stars Robert DeNiro as a talk show host; with Deadpool 2’s Zazie Beetz playing a single mom who catches the interest of the man who will become the clown prince of crime; Marc Maron is the agent responsible for getting the Joker on DeNiro’s talk show, with the film also starring Frances Conroy and Josh Pais.

Joker has an October 4, 2019 release date.
