Jackie Chan Makes Surprise Appearance On Spider-Man: Brand New Day Set

Jackie Chan made headlines after revealing he dropped by the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in London, surprising both the cast and crew.

Jackie Chan at the Locarno Film Festival

Chan was recently honored at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where he received the prestigious Golden Leopard Lifetime Achievement Award.

During interviews surrounding the event, the legendary martial artist and actor mentioned that he also traveled to the UK to check in on his stunt team, the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, who are working as second-unit action directors (filmmakers responsible for overseeing action sequences and other necessary shots not involving the main cast and crew) on Marvel’s latest Spider-Man movie.

Chan Visits His Team on Set

“I went to London for meetings, and also to visit the set. My stunt team is filming Spider-Man, with them serving as the action directors, so I went to watch their rehearsals,” he said (translated, via hko1).

Chan added that director Destin Daniel Cretton was excited to see him, but what is funny is that the more direct translation offers that Cretton was surprised or even “got flustered and started trembling” when he realized it was Chan’s stunt team.

“When the director saw me, he immediately got flustered and started trembling, realizing that the entire team actually belongs to me!” said Chan.

Other translations even point out that Chan made a point of telling Cretton it was his director’s team, hence Cretton being so surprised.
