WB has released a high-res image from the new CHiPs remake featuring Dax Shepard as Jon and Michael Pena as Ponch. A description for the film can also be found below.Â
Synopsis:
Dax Shepard (âHit and Run,â TVâs âParenthoodâ) and Michael Peña (âThe Martianâ) star in Warner Bros. Picturesâ action comedy âCHiPs.â Shepard also directs from a script he penned based on the characters from the popular â70s television series created by Rick Rosner.
Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank âPonchâ Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside jobâinside the CHP.
The inexperienced rookie and hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kickstarting a partnership is easier said than done. But with Bakerâs bike skills combined with Ponchâs street savvy it might just workâŠif they donât drive each other crazy along the way.
Rounding out the cast are Kristen Bell (âVeronica Marsâ), Rosa Salazar (âInsurgentâ), Adam Brody (âThink Like a Man Tooâ), Jessica McNamee (âThe Vow,â TVâs âSirensâ), Ryan Hansen (âVeronica Marsâ), David Koechner (the âAnchormanâ films), Michael K. Williams (HBOâs âBoardwalk Empireâ) and Vincent DâOnofrio (âJurassic Worldâ).
Andrew Panay (âEarth to Echo,â âWedding Crashersâ), who produced Shepardâs directorial debut âHit and Run,â is producing the film under his Panay Films banner, with Ravi Mehta (âGet Hardâ) and Shepard. The executive producers are Robert J. Dohrmann, Rick Rosner, Nate Tuck and Michael Peña.
Collaborating with Shepard behind the scenes are cinematographer Mitchell Amundsen (âNow You See Meâ), production designer Maher Ahmad (âGet Hardâ), and editor Dan Lebental (âAnt-Manâ).
âCHiPsâ is a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.
