First Look at Henry Cavill in Highlander Reboot Revealed

Henry Cavill has officially unveiled the first look at his upcoming Highlander reboot, sharing two moody and atmospheric images that tease the sword-wielding epic fans have been waiting years for.

“Happy First Look for Highlander! This has been quite the journey for me, which I’ll tell you all about when the time is right, but it’s a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy,” Cavill posted on Instagram alongside the photos.

The shots—one set in a temple bathed in red lantern light, the other in a ruined cathedral—feature Cavill in a dark trench coat, sword in hand, looking very much the part of the immortal warrior.

The reboot has been described as a modern reimagining of the classic franchise about centuries-old immortals who duel each other across time.

Production Resumes After Injury Delay

Production on Highlander was delayed late last year after Cavill sustained an injury during prep for the physically demanding role.

The shoot is now back on track, and these first images suggest a gritty, stylized approach to the fantasy-action property.

Cavill has long been attached to star, with John Wick‘s Chad Stahelski directing with his signature action style.

The Highlander Franchise

The Highlander reboot follows a long legacy that began with the 1986 cult classic starring Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod and Sean Connery as Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez.

Known for its “there can be only one” tagline, the original film spawned multiple sequels and became a fan-favorite for its mix of fantasy, swordplay, and Queen’s iconic soundtrack.

The franchise also found major success on television with Highlander: The Series, which ran from 1992 to 1998. That show starred Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod, a fellow immortal from the same clan as Connor. Paul’s portrayal earned a devoted fanbase and helped expand the mythology of the Highlander universe well beyond the films.
