Bad News: He-Man Movie Set Images Confirm Rumors

Unfortunately, those He-Man Masters of the Universe rumors are right on the money as set images confirm an Earth setting for the movie.

Set pics from London have surfaced online showing actor Nicholas Galitzine wearing a pink shirt, holding what looks to be the He-Man sword — and get this – busted by the cops! Turns out Galitzine was also right about their He-Man movie being “quite different.”

And we actually see one of the cops has the Power Sword resting on her foot! So, apparently, Adam gets arrested – while wearing a smart watch – for having the Power Sword.

Update: The first official image has been released teasing Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man with the Power Sword.

Plot sounds awful

The pink shirt is an obvious nod to the animated series which depicts Prince Adam wearing pink before he transforms into the most powerful man in the universe. Galitzine also sports blondish hair, and he does look like He-Man. However, that Earth setting comes off as repulsive. This is the plot that has been going around. It’s awful:

10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!

What did Nicholas Galitzine say about Masters of the Universe?

In a recent interview THR, the 30-year-old actor was asked how the beloved animated series compares to his movie, and he responded:

I have, yeah. Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time. But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously since there was the ‘Revelation’ version of ‘Master of the Universe,’ and the comics themselves. And we’re very much treating our script as as Bible, you know. But it’s kind of amazing to hear what this show meant to a lot of people. It was really formative for a lot of people, so it’s exciting to do something that will have a nostalgia element as well as hopefully attract a bunch of new fans.

Normally whenever Hollywood takes an IP and reimagines it for a new audience, that’s a huge red flag (like being set on Earth to save money on the budget). The studios behind Masters of the Universe also happens to be Amazon Studios, who the owner of James Bond recently called f’n idiots. Amazon is also behind Rings of Power, Wheel of Time, and the upcoming live-action reimaging of Voltron.
