HBO Reveals First Look At New Harry Potter Series Ahead Of Trailer Release

HBO has released the first official look at its new Harry Potter series, showing Dominic McLaughlin suited up as the new Boy Who Lived.

The image features McLaughlin from behind as Harry Potter, wearing Gryffindor Quidditch robes with “Potter” and the number 7 on the back. He appears to be walking toward the Quidditch pitch at Hogwarts, with students gathered ahead of a match.

HBO posted the image on March 24 and teased, “Tomorrow,” which has fans thinking the first trailer or another big reveal is coming next.

Harry Potter Heads Back To Hogwarts

The first-look image leans hard into Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, as Harry’s first year at Hogwarts includes his introduction to Quidditch and his spot as Gryffindor’s Seeker.

The snowy setting, house banners, and Quidditch robes make it clear HBO wants fans to know the series is going back to the early days of the books. It also gives the first real look at the new Hogwarts setting after months of set photos and casting reports.

McLaughlin plays Harry Potter in the new series. Arabella Stanton stars as Hermione Granger, while Alastair Stout plays Ron Weasley. Production started in July, and the show is planned as a long-form adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven books, with each book getting its own season.

HBO Teases Trailer Release

The “Tomorrow” tease is the big hook.

HBO didn’t say exactly what is coming, but the timing points to either a trailer, teaser, or release date announcement for the Harry Potter series. The first image looks staged as a proper marketing rollout rather than a casual still, so a bigger reveal seems likely.

The series is expected to premiere on HBO in 2027.

New Cast Takes Over The Wizarding World

The HBO series marks the first major live-action reboot of Harry Potter since the original movie franchise, which starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.

This time, HBO is taking a TV approach, which should give the series more room to cover material from the books that the films had to cut. The first season is expected to adapt Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, bringing Harry, Ron, and Hermione back to Hogwarts for the start of the story.

The first-look image also shows HBO is starting with one of the franchise’s most recognizable moments: Harry becoming Gryffindor’s Seeker.

Release Info

The new Harry Potter series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The series is planned to premiere on HBO in 2027.
