HBO has released the official trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3, with the Dance of the Dragons heading into its bloodiest stretch yet.
The third season of the Game of Thrones prequel debuts Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will stream on HBO Max. The eight-episode season will roll out weekly, with the finale set for August 9.
HBO Max is billing the trailer with a simple warning: “The throne knows no mercy.”
House of the Dragon Season 3 Trailer Teases War For The Iron Throne
House of the Dragon Season 3 picks up as the war between the Blacks and the Greens pushes House Targaryen closer to destruction.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and follows the fall of House Targaryen from within.
The official logline keeps things simple: House of the Dragon tells the story of House Targaryen.
Season 3 now looks to move deeper into the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, with family members, dragonriders, armies, and political players all fighting for control of the Iron Throne.
Season 3 Premieres June 21 On HBO And HBO Max
House of the Dragon Season 3 premieres Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
The season will also be available to stream on HBO Max, with new episodes dropping weekly.
The eight-episode season runs through August 9, when HBO will air the Season 3 finale.
The release keeps House of the Dragon in HBO’s summer slot and gives fans another weekly event series built around Westeros, dragons, betrayal, and the Targaryen fight for power.
House of the Dragon Season 3 Cast
House of the Dragon Season 3 brings back the main players from the Targaryen civil war.
The cast includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, James Norton, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, Abubakar Salim, Tom Cullen, Tommy Flanagan, Dan Fogler, Joplin Sibtain, and Barry Sloane.
Ryan Condal returns as co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer.
George R.R. Martin also serves as co-creator and executive producer. The executive producer team includes Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett.
House of the Dragon is based on Martin’s Fire & Blood.
