Guardian of the Galaxy 3 Synopsis Teases Rocket Raccoon Dies

Fitting with all the rumors and speculation, a new Guardians of the Galaxy 3 synopsis has been released and teases that Rocket Raccoon may die, with possibly all the other Guardians.

The new synopsis states:

“In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life-a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

Are the Guardians of the Galaxy finished in the MCU?

Director James Gunn has gone on record that the flick will feature the last iteration of the team as we know them, and in addition, Gunn has left Marvel to take charge of DC Studios where Gunn has hinted he will be bringing his Guardians cast with him.

Dave Bautista also confirmed he is done with the Drax role and even went so far as to say he doesn’t want to be remembered for playing the goofy version of the character in the MCU (the comic book version from the 2008 Abnett run is much better).

Fans are also hoping that Chris Pratt jumps ship to DC and plays Booster Gold.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 rumors also offer that the film will feature multiple deaths, but interesting enough, Rocket Raccoon might not be one of them.

It seems a bit obvious that Rocket Raccoon might be the one to die, so perhaps it is sort of a red herring on the part of James Gunn, as just maybe, other characters will meet their maker.

Who will die in Guardians of the Galaxy 3?

According to the rumors, James Gunn and Marvel filmed multiple deaths for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 to throw off the leakers, so exactly who dies and what remains of those multiple death scenes remains to be seen.

With James Gunn and some of the cast done with Guardians of the Galaxy, it also remains to be seen if some version of a new team will continue in the MCU under a different director.

Gunn is introducing Adam Warlock who was a member of the Guardians and led the team in the comics, so maybe Will Poulter is being set up as the new leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU, possibly along with Mantis, Rocket, Groot, and if Gunn continues to go the woke route, maybe the alien female lesbian close version of Quasar, Phyla-Vel.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 gets released on May 5, 2023.
