We have our first confirmation that the Nova Corps will be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 â or at least Nova Prime Glenn Close.
We know Gunn isnât a big fan of Nova for whatever reason (which probably explains the first movieâs Nova Corps costume designs), and Gunn previously said John C. Reilly wonât be back as Corpsman Dey in the sequel.
Gunn also cut Richard Rider Nova from the first Guardians of the Galaxy script, but at least he isnât as bitter when fans bring up mention of Rider on his Facebook page this time around as he recently said a Nova movie was possible and sounded pretty upbeat about it. I also donât think Gunn is banning people from his Facebook page anymore when they do mention Nova, so thatâs certainly a good sign.
Last we saw of the Nova Corps and Glenn Close is that at the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie they are left keeping the Infinity Stone safe. However, Gunn did say that the Infinity Stone as well as Thanos wonât be a factor in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 so it remains to be seen how Glenn Close (and possibly the Nova Corps) will be involved.
âGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2â has a May 5, 2017 release starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. New cast members include Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.
