Gal Gadot has been cast as the villain of Disney’s woke Snow White movie.
Deadline reports Gal Gadot is in final negotiations to play the Evil Queen.
Gadot confirmed the casting news on her Instagram Story.
The site’s insiders also offer the live-action film will expand upon the story and music from the original 1937 Snow White animated movie, which was an adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairytale.
Gal Gadot is of course known for DC’s Wonder Woman movies and is reteaming with Patty Jenkins for Cleopatra and has Red Notice getting released this month on Netflix starring Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.
Rachel Zegler cast as Snow White
Back in June, it was announced that Rachel Zegler is playing the new Snow White where she is described as a “Latinx princess” and that “the casting also marks a step in the right direction of Disney diversifying its Disney Princess characters, after tapping Halle Bailey to play Ariel in the upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid movie.”
Worth a mention is that the original Brothers Grimm fairytale describes Snow White as “a child as white as snow,” and a “daughter who was as white as snow” which is why she is called Show White: “therefore they called her Little Snow-White.”
Further details for the new Snow White movie include Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb will be directing, with Marc Platt producing, and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Oscar- and Tony-winning duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and Dear Evan Hansen, will write new songs for the film.
Rachel Zegler also confirmed the casting of Gal Gadot on her Instagram Story.
According to IMDb, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is expected in 2022, but Disney has yet to announce an official release date. The Seven Dwarfs are also yet to be cast.
