Fox McCloud Joins The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Fox McCloud Joins The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Fox McCloud is officially joining The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and he will be voiced by Glen Powell.

The announcement dropped with the line, “Let’s rock and roll! Fox McCloud joins The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, only in theaters April 1. Get tickets now.”

Fox had already been teased in the recent trailer, so the news won’t come as a total surprise to fans. Still, confirming the Star Fox hero for the movie is a big deal and has already sparked talk that Nintendo could be building toward a Super Smash Bros. movie.

Fox McCloud officially joins the movie

Fox McCloud is one of Nintendo’s most recognizable characters outside of the Mario universe, so bringing him into The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens the door to something bigger.

The bigger takeaway is what Fox’s inclusion could mean for the future. Since he was teased in the trailer and is now confirmed for the film, a lot of fans think Nintendo may be setting up more crossover characters down the line.

Super Smash Bros. speculation picks up

The obvious theory is Super Smash Bros.

Mario crossing paths with Fox McCloud is the kind of move that instantly gets fans thinking about Nintendo’s wider roster of characters. If Nintendo keeps introducing major names from other franchises into its movies, then a Smash Bros. film starts to look less far-fetched.

Nothing official has been announced about a Super Smash Bros. movie. But Fox joining The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will only add more fuel to that speculation.

Release info

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theaters on April 1.
