Fans Hate The Minecraft Movie Trailer Starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black

Well, it’s RIP Minecraft folks as the weirdos as Warner Bros. (surprisingly not Disney) got to the flick and ruined it.

We all knew this was coming with the rumors that Jack Black was cast as Steve, which is indeed true.

Now take a look at Jason Momoa who plays one of the four “misfits” with Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison.

The plot follows the four losers who get sucked into the world of Minecraft via a portal only to end up with another loser, Steve, played by Jack Black.

The video description also makes fun of the game and its fans: “Be There and Be Square.”

It’s a reference to the saying “Be there or be square,” which means you don’t want to miss out or you won’t be one of the cool kids. So “Be There and Be Square” means you can be there and be one of the losers.

Fans on YouTube have responded as the Minecraft trailer currently as 63K dislikes. It does have over 100K likes, so we see the fans are divided.

Update: In one day, the number of dislikes has shot up nearly enfold to over 600k dislikes, which not outweighs the number of likes.

Update #2: As of 9/17, the dislikes have risen to a whopping 1.6 million.

What is A Minecraft Movie about?

Here is the official plot synopsis and info:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures and starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, “A Minecraft Movie,” directed by Jared Hess, is the first-ever big screen, live-action adaptation of Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time.

Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative
the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.
