Welcome Dwayne Johnson to the MCU?! Is the hierarchy of the power in the Marvel Cinematic Universe about to change?!
According to a new rumor, The Rock is once again rumored to be joining Marvel, this time as X-Men villain, Apocalypse.
Johnson has previously been rumored to be joining the MCU as Namor, but that role went to another actor.
What does the rumor say?
The new rumor comes via the MyTimeToShineHello Twitter account.
The rumor says that Marvel Studios wants Dwayne Johnson to play Apocalypse.
An X-Men reboot is happening in the MCU, so it could be a part of that or perhaps it could be for a Variant in one of the upcoming Avengers movies.

Dwayne Johnson as a villain?
What is interesting about the rumor is that it would mean Johnson, who recently played more of an anti-hero/hero as DC’s Black Adam, would play a villain role.
The Rock recently returned to the WWE, where he is now a heel, a villain, so playing Apocalypse would fit.
Previous rumors
What is also interesting about Dwayne Johnson potentially joining the MCU is that Johnson has previously been rumored for Marvel along with former Superman actor Henry Cavill, who also happens to be rumored to have joined the MCU.
At the time, Henry Cavill was using Dwayne Johnson’s former wife and business partner as his manager, so the pair both going to Marvel seemed like a possibility.
Then Cavill appeared in the Black Adam post-credit scene and was announced as returning to the Superman role. Johnson was also attempting to take over DC at the time. However, things fell apart and James Gunn took over the DCU, from what I am told, at the request of WBD CEO David Zaslav.
Who could Dwayne Johnson be playing in the MCU?
Dwayne Johnson was rumored for Namor, which went to Tenoch Huerta for Black Panther 2; however, Huerta has been in the hot seat for alleged sexual assault, so who knows, maybe Johnson will play a Namor variant?
Or how about The Rock playing Gladiator of the Shi’ar???
Anyway, if there were Marvel talks back then, perhaps following Johnson leaving DC and the Black Adam role, the talks restarted, so maybe the MCU fans will be smelling what Johnson is cookin’?!!
