Disney made a point of highlighting Deadpool & Wolverine at CinemaCon, with an attached presentation slide showing the movie among the studio’s billion-dollar and near-billion-dollar hits.
The image lists Deadpool & Wolverine at $1.3 billion, which lines up with its final worldwide box office haul of $1.338 billion.
The film finished with $636.7 million domestically and $701.3 million internationally, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time worldwide and the top-grossing R-rated title in the U.S. as well.
Deadpool & Wolverine Box Office Was Huge For Disney
Deadpool & Wolverine wasn’t just another Marvel release. It gave Disney a massive theatrical win and reminded everyone that there is still real audience demand for these characters when Marvel gets it right.
The movie opened with $211.4 million domestically, ranking among the biggest openings ever, and went on to become one of the MCU’s top performers.

Channing Tatum’s Gambit Is Confirmed For Avengers: Doomsday
One of the biggest takeaways following Deadpool & Wolverine is that Channing Tatum’s Gambit is not a one-and-done cameo.
Marvel officially confirmed Tatum as part of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday in the film’s cast announcement.
So Gambit is absolutely coming back, which gives Deadpool & Wolverine even more value as a setup piece for what Marvel is building next.

Ryan Reynolds And Hugh Jackman Rumors Continue
As for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, nothing has been made official by Marvel.
However, rumors have kept circulating about Deadpool and Wolverine showing up in Avengers: Doomsday and possibly Secret Wars.
The reporting has been mixed. Deadline reported last year that Reynolds was not set to appear, while TheWrap said conflicting insider chatter suggested it still could happen.
Jackman has also stayed coy publicly, refusing to fully shut the door on another Wolverine return. So for now, Reynolds and Jackman remain in rumor territory, but the speculation has not gone away.
The pair recently reunited on social media as part of a joint promotion. Watch below.
