The Deadpool 3 release date is at risk confirms director Shawn Levy, so anything you may have heard about the date being a sure thing isn’t true.
August actually saw Disney NOT mention the Deadpool 3 release date in an earnings call while discussing its upcoming September 2023 through June 2024 films.
The current Deadpool 3 release date set by Marvel is May 3, 2024.
Update: It is reported there will be a delay.
What does Shawn Levy say?
Now Shawn Levy speaks with The Wrap while promoting the release of his Netflix series, All the Light We Cannot See, and comments on Deadpool 3, which has paused production due to the actors and writers strikes.
“I wish I knew. I don’t even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3,” Levy said. “Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We’ve shot half the movie. I’ve edited half the movie. We’re dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year.”
Regarding the strikes, the writers strike recently ended, so it is hoped the actors strike will end soon. I’ve been told it could last until at least the end of the year, so that would give Shawn Levy only a couple of months to finish filming the remaining half of Deadpool 3 and get the VFX finished in time for the May 3 release.
