A surprise leak from the upcoming DCU Lanterns TV series shows how Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart will take flight in the series.
So, yes, while the series has been described as grounded, a potential red flag, we apparently see that Lanterns will use CGI and visual effects to show the Green Lanterns flying.
The second slide of the Instagram video, watch below, shows Lanterns stunt coordinator Justin Reiner using a harness and wires to take to the skies (it looks really good).
Obviously, it won’t look exactly like this in the series as the actors will be shown in the stuntmen’s place.
However, what it shows is the form they will be using which includes flying up with the ring fist first. It also shows them flying with their arms at their side. It’s probably safe to say CGI will also show their green power rings, the green energy, and their Green Lantern suits.

Plot
The official description offers that the series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
“Our Lanterns have the rings and all the power they bring, and other characters and aspects of the lore are going to show up or be name-checked. But it’s a series that explores who these guys are when they’re on the job and when they’re out of uniform. It’s designed to be accessible for people who don’t know the mythology, but hopefully really satisfying for people that know it backwards and forwards,” showrunner Chris Mundy previously said.
Mundy added, “We’re not part of a larger storytelling plan right now. Season one is designed to be its own, complete season of television that, hopefully, will become many seasons of television.”

Release info
A release date for Lanterns hasn’t been announced as of yet, but the series is expected to premiere in early 2026.
Lanterns will consist of eight episodes. Damon Lindelof and Tom King are co-writing and executive producing.
Who stars?
Along with Chandler and Pierre, Kelly Macdonald is also playing Sheriff Kerry, said to be the love interest of Hal Jordan. Garret Dillahunt is playing William Macon, a modern-day cowboy, the series’ potential villain. Jason Ritter is playing his son, Billy Macon. Poorna Jagannathan is playing Zoe, a possible love interest of John Stewart. Ulrich Thomsen is playing Sinestro who recently called out the David Corenswet Superman on Superman Day (watch below). Nathan Fillion is also confirmed to be returning as Guy Gardner from James Gunn’s Superman, which gets released in July.
Recent casting news includes the addition of Paul Ben-Victor in a key recurring role as Antaan, an extraterrestrial devoted to exposing the truth and exacting vengeance against those who wronged his people. Consumed by a deep and unrelenting hatred for the law, he is determined to deliver justice on his own terms.
