Kevin Smith Launches ‘Bizarro: Year None’ Comic at DC

DC Comics has officially announced Bizarro: Year None, a new four-issue limited series arriving this April from Kevin Smith, Eric Carrasco, and artist Nick Pitarra.

The comic tells the twisted origin of Superman’s backwards doppelgänger—and yes, it’s supposed to be terrible… in the best way possible.

Kevin Smith, who previously pitched Bizarro as a live-action TV series on HBO Max with Nicolas Cage in the title role, now brings the character to life in comic book form alongside Supergirl alum Eric Carrasco.

The story is described as the “definitive, indefinitive” origin of one of Superman’s most bizarre foes.

“Me am NOT excited for new comic!” says Bizarro in DC’s announcement. “Bizarro: Year None am worst thing to happen!”

BIZARRO YEAR NONE 1 MAIN COVER

Jimmy Olsen and Perry White Blast Into Bizarro’s World

The comic follows Daily Planet regulars Jimmy Olsen and Perry White on a strange space mission that takes them to a dimension eerily similar to Metropolis. There, the newspaper isn’t just a publication—it’s a religion.

As they investigate the mysteries of this warped world, they encounter its backwards guardian, who may be a misguided Superman worshipper… or maybe something far more chaotic.

Smith and Carrasco promise a blend of humor, heart, and high-concept science fiction. Nick Pitarra’s hyper-detailed art style adds a surreal, almost grotesque texture to the story—fitting for a character who speaks and thinks in total opposites.

A Longtime Dream for Smith

Smith has been attached to Bizarro for years, previously developing a live-action pitch with Nicolas Cage eyed for the role. The idea never made it to screen, but Year None finally delivers Smith’s wild take on the character in comic book form.

Fans can follow DC’s official channels and DC Universe Infinite for more updates on the series.
