Damon Lindelof Exits Star Wars

Damon Lindelof Exits Star Wars

Following doubts about the movie now it is reported that Damon Lindelof has indeed exited his Star Wars movie at Lucasfilm.

Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were on board the flick as writers and are said to have turned in a script but now it is reported the pair have walked away from Star Wars.

Jeff Sneider offers Lindelof and Britt-Gibson turned in their script in February and parted ways days later, where worth a mention is that Lindelof recently attended the SXSW and hinted he might be leaving the project.

Though Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson have exited Star Wars, according to Sneider, the movie is still happening with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (episodes of Ms. Marvel) still attached to direct and that Lucasfilm has brought a new writer onboard.

As expected, it’s also said an announcement will be made about the new movie at Star Wars Celebration Europe next month and that the flick starts filming in February 2024 for a Dec. 18, 2025 release date.

Damon Lindelof attended the SXSW and told Slash Film the following:

“I will just say, that for reasons that I can’t get into on this Sunday morning, on this day, the degree of difficulty is extremely, extremely, extremely high. If it can’t be great, it shouldn’t exist. That’s all I’ll say, because I have the same association with it as you do, which is, it’s the first movie I saw sitting in my dad’s lap, four years old, May of ’77. I think it’s possible that sometimes when you hold something in such high reverence and esteem, you start to get in the kitchen and you just go, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t be cooking. Maybe I should just be eating.’ We’ll just leave it at that point.”

Expect announcements at Star Wars Celebration Europe

Star Wars movies have been on hold at Lucasfilm and Disney for quite some time as following the disappointments of The Last Jedi and Solo, Disney decided to put the franchise on hold on the big screen. Various movies have been said to be in development but none of them have seen the light of day, with the Patty Jenkins Rogue Squadron movie recently canceled and there is doubt the Taika Waititi Star Wars movie might happen.

Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm also have a bad habit of hiring newbs that don’t work out so as Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is an unknown who directed episodes of Marvel’s lowest-rated series on Disney Plus with Ms. Marvel, there might be cause for concern.

Disney CEO Bob Iger also recently said that Disney is taking a careful look at Star Wars, so who knows if this Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy film will get released.

We’ll find out more at Star Wars Celebration Europe which takes place April 7-10, but also recall Disney officially announced the Patty Jenkins Rogue Squadron and now that isn’t getting released.
