The Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie in development at Lucasfilm has apparently suffered a setback.
While a recent listing on a production site states the untitled Star Wars movie from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will start filming on April 7, 2024, according to a Star Wars fan site, that is not happening.
Star Wars News Net tweeted they contacted a source who said the script isnât finished and that because of the strike, the film has been delayed.
âThe rumor that production on the Daisy Ridley-led Star Wars film is set to begin in April 2024 is incorrect, according to a source we contacted,â tweeted the site on Tuesday. âThe script is reportedly not ready yet, and due to the delays caused by the strike, we donât expect filming to start before the summer.â

What does the production listing say?
The listing on productionlist.com offers info on an âUntitled Star Wars Project (Obaid-Chinoy)â feature film, listed as âIn Development/Pre-Production,â with the last update on Dec. 4, so thatâs recent as of Monday.
Again, the âShoot Dateâ is listed as âApril 07, 2024,â and the filming location is listed as âLondon, United Kingdom.â
The âProject Summaryâ also offers: âThe sequel follows the events of âRise of Skywalkerâ and will focus on Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.â
The âCast & Crewâ is listed as âSharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Director),â âKathleen Kennedy (Producer),â âJustin Britt-Gibson (Writer),â âDamon Lindelof (Writer),â and âDaisy Ridley (Cast).â
Worth a mention is that the listing doesnât mention Steven Knight who has been announced as the new writer, replacing Justin Britt-Gibson and Damon Lindelof, so the info indeed may be outdated.

What is the Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie about?
The details for the new Daisy Ridley movie are said to include that the movie is set after the events of Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker as Rey builds a new Jedi Order.
The film is also expected to be the first new Star Wars movie out of the gate in the four-plus years since the release of The Rise of Skywalker. Rumors have offered that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is currently in the hot seat with Disney CEO Bob Iger who will fire Kathleen Kennedy if she doesnât get a new Star Wars movie out soon.

Is the Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie canceled?
At the same time, there have been rumors that Kathleen Kennedy is going to leave Lucasfilm and that the Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie isnât going to happen.
Rumors offer that the only reason Kennedy announced the Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie was in a desperate attempt to save her job. Itâs also been said The Acolyte wonât see the light of day, but Disney+ did recently confirm The Acolyte for a 2024 release.
While Kathleen Kennedy hasnât been fired (yet?), Disney and Lucasfilm did recently announce that Dave Filoni has been elevated to chief creative officer but Filoni made it crystal clear he is not the boss.

Star Wars: Episode X â A New Beginning release date?
The untitled Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie doesnât have a release date as of yet but Disney did recently announce release dates for three Star Wars films including May 22, 2026, December 18, 2026, and December 17, 2027.
IMDb actually lists the title as âStar Wars: Episode X â A New Beginningâ which first leaked on Reddit, with the December 17th, 2027 release date.
However, Dave Filoni has a Star Wars movie in development (maybe that May 22nd, 2026 release date?), and Taika Waititi is supposed to release a Star Wars movie, which we can guess could be either the December 18th, 2026 date or the December 17th, 2027 date (if he ever finishes his script).
