Netflix announces a live-action Cowboy Bebop series based on the Japanese original anime with a ten episode run.
Based on the worldwide phenomenon from Sunrise Inc., Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed, a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.
The live-action Cowboy Bebop is being written and executive produced by Chris Yost, who is known for writing for Marvel Comics, wrote Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel Studios, episodes of Star Wars Rebels and more. Yost will be writing the first episode.
Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, a partnership between Marty Adelstein and ITV Studio, are producing.
The showrunners and executive producers include Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio.
Additional executive producers include Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios (Snowpiercer, Good Behavior); Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc; Tetsu Fujimura and Matthew Weinberg.
Shinichiro Watanabe, director of the original anime, is also serving as a consultant.
